I am a new member- a life-time Marlin owner. I was started shooting a marlin 1897 at 9 years old am now 80 -still have the riffle. My question regards a MD 93 which has a 4digit serial. Please help. It is a carbine full mag tube the Fish Eye in the stock. would like to know age and reason for the 1000x number,

The serial numbers were started over a few time. Some had prefixes, some suffixes. But see that yours has the Bullseye in the stock, you are looking at around 1925-30 or so. No records to go buy, but they started the Bullseye around 1925, and then stopped putting in in the stock, around the depression. Yours probably has the ser# up buy the forearm, we're the later, had it on the bottom tang, under the lever.

No records after 1906. But around 1922 they more than likely started a 1. And no way of knowing how many were made per year. Also the few 94's used the same serial number range. All that we can go by is the fact that it has a Bullseye. And 1925-30 is as close I can tell you.

Thanks all. More about me born and raised on a dairy farm in Wisconsin could not go any where -morning and night milking cows . Amused my self shooting targets mounted in a large wood pile shot the model 1897 my grandfather gave me. He also coached me in safety- God I love that man. If he and I don't get to shoot in Heaven I will be pissed. Thru the years have owned a lot of Marlins still own the best one- my Grandfathers. In the 1950s had it refinished- only the metal. Too bad - but was the thing to do then. I have a 1897 someone restored - adding an early 39 round barrel the wood is like new. but has that ramp front site. That's all for now from the mists and shadows of East Texas.
