How to convert a Marlin pump Model 18,20,25,29,37,47 to a new type magazine tube.
I was asked if there was a replacement mag tube for a Model 20 out there, by K Close. I told him you can try to find an original, but the odds are not that good, these days. And if you do
it might cost more than you want to spend, just to get a gun shooting again.
I mentioned to him the Wiesner kit, but that is not a drop in kit, even for the Lever guns that it says it will replace.
So I decided to see if it could be done.
And yes it can be done. Two ways for that mater.
The 1st, a gunsmith would in most cases, have to do. Buy removing the barrel, and enlarging the mag hole, so the outer tube will fit.
But this way is not reversible. And if you found an original after words, you would be out of luck. Not a problem if you have just a shooter.
But if you have a collectible gun, that you would like to shoot. While waiting for a good original.
That is where the 2nd way comes in. This PDF will show how I did it. It also shows what a 1st type fix should look like. And how a original should work.
If you print this out, make sure you put down, "Fit to page" on your printing options. Otherwise it might not print out right.
Hope this will help.
P.S. I also have an idea for putting a new style magazine tube on a Marlin pump 32, and 38. Just needs a little work.
