I have tried to feel my way around the web and find which old peep sights fit a Marlin 336.
So far I have found that Lyman 66 LA, 56 LA, Redfield 70 OM, 80-OM, 102 OM were made to fit them.
Please let me know if these are correct. Also I understand that the 102 OM was made of aluminum alloy, is this correct? Any model details I should be aware of? What about the Redfield Microsteel, Trophy and Record?
I want to get an old sight that is period appropriate for an old 336 and a model 36. I am not interested in tang sights at this time for these rifles. I had a Redfield sight booklet at one time, but have misplaced it. If there are any sights that are made for another gun that works for the 336 I am all ears as long as it does not need any major work like milling off a 1/16" or "filing off the round part".
I think I know about all the modern units including the Skinner. Nothing against any of them and I own several that work great, but the old steel units just look better on an older unD/Ted gun IMO.
The more specific the better.
Thanks
