Hey there all ....
I have a 45 70 and was looking at something fast and light for snap shooting pigs we keep walking up at close range.... I have a 30-30 too but i was wondering if anyone had shot with the Rossi 454 Casull lever gun ?
I know the cartridge quite well as i used it in a handgun to shoot metal silhoette once when a mate lent me his at a competition... (it was a bit much in a handgun i thought as i normally used a Ruger Super blackhawk .44mag with 10.5 inch barrel which i thought was plenty!).
Anyway, my thoughts were that i could load up with 45 LC's for small pigs and the Rossi can pack in about 10 shots before reloading..... recoil will not be an issue .... and the full house loads come close to the 45-70 should i need them....
I had a rossi .357 mag as a lad and then when i got married i gave it to my wife who LOVED it - i just didnt really bond with it and thought the cartridge was a bit anaemic but reckon it too would be a good close up pigging rifle .... Pity it got sold when the wife stopped using it...
My mind keeps wandering back to the casull though ....:hmmmm:
