I am trying to post the picture. It is advertised in 444 Marlin or 45-70 as well as standard double rifle rounds including 470 NE and 416 Rigby. Italian made. No price listed, but on one place just over 9,000.00. At that price think will learn to work the lever more smoothly or place the first shot better with a Ruger no.1. Still a 444 Marlin Double is a first for me. Company called S.I.A.C.E.

Normally, the SIACE Alaska EL starts at about $7,900. From there, options and custom work can drive the price to $15k, quite easily. Most rifles that make it to the states are in the $8,500 to $9,500 range.

But....
Griffin & Howe has one in .444 Marlin for $6,930 right now: SIACE - Alaska Double Rifle - .444 Marlin caliber.

Cherry's shows their starting price at $6,350.

I wonder what pressure level these would be good for. In 45-70 would it be factory Trapdoor or Buffalo Bore "Big Bear" load? SInce they show it for the 470 NE I would think BB. Trying to imagine some of the trial loads posted here in 444 as well in Hard Cast "Big Bear" as tested on water jug loads.

When my father bought his first Sabatti .450 Nitro 3.25" double, he put it on a credit card and told his (insanely gullible) wife, 'there was a mix-up at the counter, and there was no way to return the rifle'. Since he "liked it anyway," he'd just have to work some overtime to pay for it; but he 'did get them to take some money off, since it had some cosmetic damage'.

He has pulled similar 'stunts' with every rifle, since - about one every 3 months.

It would never work with my wife, but it works with his...

This might be a way to really save some space given all I would have to put on the block to bring this in...now looking at the collection and wondering. Marlin stays of course. Why is the double rifle such a draw? Anyone actually seen one of these in person?

Shop I used to work at had the Siace in 45-70 and Chapius in 9.3x74R. The Siace was the nicer of the two, but I wanted that Chapius as i already load for a Ruger #1 in that chambering. Not too ong ago there was a 16ga double with an extra set of barrels chambered in 444 that was pretty neat. Only one I've ever seen.

Ravenman, has he tried contacting the factory to find out what load the barrels were regulated with?

The only double rifles I have ever handled had the regulated load engraved on the rifle.

Yes. The information was delivered with the gun. Factory Remington 240grs. Soft Point. He tried the factory stuff first - but it did not work. His different reloads with Remington 240grs. bullets didn't work either. All bullets he had on hand (Sierra 240grs. Speer 240grs and Speer 270grs., Hornady 240grs. and 265grs) did not bring the wished accuracy with both barrels. Now he uses the double as a single shot or he makes some aiming corrections to hit the target.
