Have you had a problem with the inner magazine tube falling out when no cartridges were in the magazine?
I did . . . .and so have many others, so . . .
I removed the outer tube completely and slightly bent the “receiver end” to slightly pinch the inner tube to hold the inner in place when the magazine is completely empty.
Why Winchester didn’t do this simple modification at manufacture, is a mystery to me!

 

I have not had any problems with it

 

Never saw or handled a M, but a good friend had one in 22lr.
That thing was as smooth as snot on a doorknob.

My brother has a 9422M and I have a 9422, we bought them in the late 70’s, they are great rifles.
We haven’t experienced any issues with the mag tube in either rifle.

I have the 9422M XTR and I small hunt with mine.

 

Here’s my 9422M XTR, 2nd from the bottom, with a leupold rimfire 2-7 scope. With hornady 30gr ammo, it has no problem staying under 3/4” at 50yds and in the 0.6’s on a good day. They’re light with a very smooth action.

 

Love mine...pre-XTR. Butter smooth.

 

I have one also and it is smooth as butter and very accurate. Bought mine new and wouldn't sell or trade it for the world. I also haven't had any trouble with the magazine tube.

 

They are cool lever guns! My 12 yr old granddaughter will shoot mine all day, it's her favorite and she's a crack shot.

 

Been doing this lever action thingy for many the decades now (Winchester & Marlins) Love the classic nostalgia while stalking the Blue Ridge Mtns with one in hand.
While we're on this topic of 9422m's, would any of you fellas have any leads on a 9422m color cased ? It's the one that still eludes me. Just can't find em around my parts anymore.
