One of the guys I work with wants to sell a Mod 670 Winchester bolt rifle in 270 cal. It's serial puts it in 1949 year of make. The scope is an older leupold with big objective. Redfield one piece scope base. Stock looks to have been cleaned up at some point long ago. I have a wad of pictures he sent me on my phone. Anyhow what's something like this "really worth". His internet searching has him seeing $1400 . I'm not a fan of 270 cal so to me it's not all that desirable. Had it been 25-06 I'd have wrangled a deal on it somehow. He has three boxes of ammo with it. If anyone wants to see pics I'l email them from my company smart phone. Have not quite figured out how to use phone to post to forums and the like...it's a damn finger fookin I phone .

Eastbank , That's the kind of color I expect to see on old rifles...gorgeous. It's pretty hard to get me on military rifles , but sporter rifles/shotguns I'm barely conversant in. I wondered if 270 was even a factory caliber in the alleged 1949 mfg date ( same for 25-06). It's good to learn these little details regarding civilian rifles , and if I may add it seems to me there is more unknown generally about commercial rifles/shotguns than one would think. At least that's how I'm thinking.
