Looking at getting some replacement furniture for my 336. The original stock is is cracked at the bottom and had been glued back together. I want to take it off and save it but replace it with similar wood. I've seen plenty of stuff on eBay but didn't know how the quality was. Also Boyd's has the stock but I didn't see any for-ends. I think id rather have wood over synthetic.

Thank you both. Galaxie that second one looks beautiful. Now to decide to go back with pistol grip or the straight stock.

I was actually toying with the idea of going with unfinished and having a tribute carved into the right side of the stock to honor my grandfather. It was his gun. I called him "Old Man".

I think having "The Old Man" carved into the right side would be an awesome tribute and would remind me of him even more every time I picked up the gun. Also a great gun to pass along once I have kids one day.

Yes it is. It was advertised as Marlin 410 deluxe. I had to open up the barrel channel for the Guide gun and create the clearance for the 45-70 magazine tube bump. It really fits the hand well and gives great control on that big monster.

Never have had problems with e-bay, if your refinishing go that route, if new go PGW.

Alas the fore end has a good finish but the squared off ends need work before putting it on in my opine. It is however walnut and the checkering pattern does match.

Here is a 336 I installed a set like it on. Also a before and during mod pics of the squared fore end.

I really appreciate the comment, but I am more lucky than good. The 45/70 wood was just a clean up and some minor fitting. The 1894 did require some finish sanding and final fitting. Both were finished with Tru-oil. Most if the trick is finding a piece of wood that is worth the trouble.

These are a nice stock with the semi crescent butt plate. Made for the Century limited usually comes with nice figured wood. Though it's marked 1897 as in the .22 it will fit 336s, 444 and 1895s as well as 39A.

Stock, Walnut, PG, Dlx Checkering, Curved Marlin Safety Buttplate with Bullseye

Here is a fore end that takes a bbl band and will match. Forend, Diamond Checkered Walnut (Takes Barrel Band)
Thank you Swany for posting this information. I have a Zane Grey Century 336 and, unfortunately, I found that these stocks do not fit my gun (not enough wood- the tangs are proud of the walnut). I also received stocks with damage (corners closest to reciever broken off). Some forends listed by Numrich do not properly identify the calibers that they fit. I purchased some really nice wood that was made for a .22. It is a lot of work to open up the forend for a larger barrel and magazine tube.

If anyone knows of a current source for walnut forends for an octagonal barrel .30-30 please let me know.

Midway USA sells replacement stocks for Marlins. They have a full crescent stock for 1894's that comes with a steel buttplate. You have to drill it though, and it comes plain steel, unblued. The stock in walnut, though, and looks great once you get it done. The gun I'm holding in my avatar has one on it.
