What is the right magazine tube plug for a Marlin 336 35 Rem

My 336 in 35 Remington has pitting rust on the magazine tube plug. When I look for a spare part I see several variations of plug and screw. One has a very long cross screw and one has a short screw. Also, one version of the plug is short and one is long. The 336 I have is a blued carbine that has a full length magazine tube and is in 35 Remington and has a cross bolt safety. Which plug is right? I am traveling so I don’t have access to the rifle right now and I want the part so I can fix it when I get back.

Either plug should work. Even when you have the max number of cartridges in the tube, the spring still has some give. For deer hunting, in my state of Wisconsin, a hunter may only have five cartridges loaded.

I have a 336CS and it has the long screw version. The barrel is recessed for the screw. It's the only one out of 14 Marlins that has this???
