I know Marlin made their Model 336 for sears and other too but this is the first time I heard of Westpoint Model 33 Lever Action 30/30 today. How many Marlin owners have a Westpoint Model 33 Lever Action 30/30 or other Marlins made for other companies? Are there any in other calibers?

On Jan 6, 2012 I walked into a local pawn shop and saw what I thought was a Marlin sitting on the rack. When I looked closer I realized it was something I'd never seen before. It was marked Western Field M72. I looked in the cross reference chart in the back of my Blue Book ( I kept it in my truck back then since I didn't have a smart phone) and it said it was a Mossberg 472 but there was no listing for a Mossberg 472 in the Blue Book. After I got it home I Googled it and found that Mossberg made the 472 from '72-'79. Never have found any info on how many were made.

Looks very similar to a 336 except for the safety on the left side. The internals are completely different. The trigger stays with the lever.

None of the ones I've seen online have a Western Field grip cap.

I usually pull the see-thru mounts and scope off but decided this one needed to stay.

Had a friend that had a Revelation 200, not sure who it was made for.
I have a Sears model in 35 Rem. and a Westerfield in 30-30.
Most of the store brands were 30-30's, with probably a third less made in 35 Rem.
Here's my pair Westerfield on the left and the JC Higgins on the right.

I used to have quite a few of the store brand Marlins. Funny how a few of the store brands didn't have the hard wood stocks and had the fore arm cap instead of the accuracy robbing bands. I am a pistol grip guy and capped fore ends. I wish I had all the ones back I had collected over the years. I had a mint Westpoint 33 in with them.

My Sears Model 45 does not have Ted WIlliams name on it. I have never seen one on MO with his name on the barrel. I think his name was on the Winchester Sears offerings.

Thanks for posting pictures of other Marlins with other brand names on them. I see that some rifles have see through rings. I use see through rings with good accuracy. My M. 308Ex.-XLR is equipped with Millett thru rings and scoped with a Weaver 2 x 10 x 38mm made in Japan scope. I can shoot with a straight aim at 50, 100, 150 yards with my reloads are in 2" bullseye. I just had to share this because I have been on M.O.F. since 2009 and I remember members were down on see thru rings. I admit see thru rings look odd but functional.

I buy all mine at pawn shops and a lot of them I've picked up had see-thru rings on them. The first thing I usually do is pull the scope and rings off. I don't have problem with the see-thru rings but it's a lot easier to store them in the safe without the scopes.

I believe the Westernfield Model 472/72 was made by Mossberg. I have heard they are very well made rifles........

I jave a westpoint model 33 that belonged to my grandmother. It was purchased at McLaughlins hardware store in Quincy Ill in 1975. I got it in 1980 when she passed. I jave taken many deer with it andtoday im re-blueing it and changing the stock to a weathered grey. Hope it turns out. I also have a Glenfield 30A that belonged to my grandfather pretty much in mint condition

I was wondering if the Sears's Marlin carries the Ted William name. thanks for sharing. One question. where is the Ted William stamp place on the rifle? I see machined threads.

To be honest I don't know why Mossberg did not continue making their Model 742 lever rife. Perhaps Marlin 336 were more desirable.

The one I had stolen is a Westpoint .30-30. Has notches on the stock made with a knife as my dad was keeping a tally of deer he killed with it. Also had the brass saddle ring. When stolen it had a slip on butt pad which prob was removed, but the butt stock may be a diff color where the butt pad was but not sure. My dad has the serial number somewhere but hasnt found it yet. Thanks Jerry
