The local gun peddler has one complete with matching Western Field fine crosshairs scope; condition seems above average (very good, just shy of excellent). What is this bolt gun with an under-bolt magazine in 30-30 worth, and is it very desirable? It seems a fella could load some proper pointy bullets and squeeze a bit more accuracy out of the venerable old 30-30.

If only NAPA and pep boys had gun cases and ammo. The western auto guns, were rebranded and many times unique models that were at a much lower price than the stuff the town sporting goods and gun shops would offer, If I were to see that I would probably want to pay $250 or less although I have seen a rebranded marlin 30-30 with $500 asking price and pawn shop owner was saying it was worth more than one stamped marlin people will tell you anything to make a buck. Anyway I'm no expert. just my $0.02

I may be wrong but I think Western Field was Montgomery Ward house brand, Western Auto was Revelation. Doesn't really matter it
is still a 340 Savage. Sounds like a reasonable price for one in excellent condition. They aren't fancy but have a good rep for durability
and accuracy. In 30/30 they will usually out shoot a lever, and do very well with pointed bullets. It goes without saying you have to
watch your AOL when loading for them.
