Very nice. You are going to enjoy it. I bought one from a MO member and set it up with period correct Weaver tip off mount and steel scope. I've been looking for another for my grandson's first deer rifle.

 

Don't kid yourself...that gun is as true a Marlin as any.
That store branded Marlin is better quality than any produced today,great find.

That rifle is as much of a real Marlin made when they were made right as any out there. Great looking wood as a bonus.

 

Agree with others, if I wrote my name on that rifle of yours it doesn't mean I made it, nor own it just a name.. Marlin made that rifle of yours, and is true blue.

Got her today and its one of the smoothest actions iv ever had. Trigger is a tad stiff but that is and easy fix. Wood on it is a lot nicer that original photos show. Im going to re finish with a nice oil.

 

Looks like a keeper for sure.

Very nice, looks just like my first marlin 336, the color of wood, grain, blue... except recoil pad, I wished I had it back shot my first deer a many more.... My how I had to have a 30-06 I was hunting some open fields wanted a longer range rifle... My first deer was a little over 250 yards with 30-30 one of the longest deer kills I ever made, if I could go back I would hold onto my first 30-30 !!

Wards, Sears, Spegels, etc did not make stuff. They bought merchandise from main line manufacturers with their brand on it. Look at enough of their guns and you will see Marlins, Remingtons, Winchester, High Standard, FN, Mossberg, and perhaps others. Seems like Sako furnished one of them them the sweet small action .222, but it may have been a side deal through Savage. Memory is not what it used to be.
