Hollies - Carrie-Anne: They found a guy playing steel drums on the street, invited him back to the studio and had him record the solo and never saw him again.... when they played it live, they played a recording of the steel drum session along with the bass line (to keep the band in time) and had the bass player turn his volume to zero and fake it for the show, then pretend to not know where the solo was coming from as part of the act:
