I have a 22" 1895 I bought a few years ago (super happy with), and I put on a grind to fit Limbsaver to replace the red rubber pad (no recoil reduction happening with the red pad). It makes all the difference!

 

Not sure on the stock.

I put a 1" Limbsaver pad in my CB model, I used the medium size pad and that was a little large all around about 1/4 inch. Take measurements of the stock that you're putting the pad on and then compare with a small Limbsaver.

You can purchase a direct fit rubber pad for your 1895, however it will not be as good as the Limbsaver.
The felt recoil seems a bit stronger on my friends GBL than my CB model due the difference in pads.

 

I've always used pachmayr stocks. Ill have to look into the limbsavers. What was the hole spacing you ended up buying?

 

I did not go by the hole spacing. I went with the medium size which Midway had in stock at the time. I wanted a small so that I did not have to grind off so much.

Luckily there where three hole on the stock and I did not have to drill one.

 

The GBL stock will most certainly fit your 1895 as long as it's a pistol grip, and I believe the standard 22 inch 1895 is. The GBL stock should be a brown laminent, and should already have a 1 inch limbsaver on it.

 

It is pistol grip. Will the forend fit as well?

 

The laminated GBL stock will fit the regular 22" 1895. You may have to relieve a little wood to get the forearm cap screws to line up. It comes with a Pachmayr recoil pad installed at the factory

 

Thats exactly what I needed to do. It ended up fitting really well once I relieved the wood on the front.
