Stopped by my LGS to DROS the shot gun I bought here on MO.
Advertised as a Savage 24 I could see in the picture it was something else with the Double Barrels, Double Triggers and Double Hammers.
Confirmed today it is a Stevens 240.
From Gun Boards:
Stevens produced 20,000 240's between 1942 and 1945.

It has a Beautiful looking Tenite (prewar plastic) Stock. and all is in order for a 79 year old.

Been trying to get my hands on of those for the past 5 years or so ... really nifty little guns ...

Prices run just a "LITTLE" ( that's a BIG little ) high for me in most cases ... most I've seen run in excess of $700 minimum ...

One really nice one just sold on Gunrunner Auctions ...

Had aH&R 20ga single shot as a kid. Had fun Hunting with it in San Francisquito Canyon and ate quail and sage bunnies I got.
This will be my first Shotgun in 40 years.
Looks like hardwood stocks are available. The Tenite stocks are very light. feel like they are hollow.
Felt very natural pointing the 240 at the LGS.
Reading a little about Tungsten Shot and Turkeys.
