I ordered my first 45-70, after getting a fun .44Mag Marlin recently. I do want to scope the 45-70, and noted the Burris 2-7 x 32mm offers a silver nickel finish. Does anyone have one mounted on their 1895, and recommend it?
Otherwise, I might break with a LPVO.
Thanks!

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the 45-70. I'm not positive but I think the Burris scopes have a painted finish like the old Leupold and Nikon scopes. I have had several silver Leupold scopes but they don't really match the stainless. The only real nickel plated scopes I know of are the old Redfields which show up from time to time. They do look good on a stainless gun.

I prefer to just throw on black scopes on stainless guns. Silver scopes just look like you tried to match and you failed.
