Being that the barrel on the Ruger was cut down , it lost value there. Not to mention I don't like the stock on it.
Even if the barrel wasn't cut down , you did alright .

I would consider that a good trade for both parties assuming that they were OK with a 20" .270 barrel. Personally I want a 24" barrel for a 270.

Since the value on the 1894 in 357 is pushing towards $2000 (especially 1979 vintage first year of production) I'd say you did real well.

 

Careful post stories about absolute theft online! Wow what a deal on that! Also, good question from an above commenter if they knew about the barrel cut or not

We read about so many gun owners here, and on other forums, that get rid of guns that are problematic for them, so you just never know how many, if any, are up front with the buyer about the problems they are having. If I were interested in buying a firearm that I discovered had a serious problem, I wouldn't buy it. Your buyer most likely saw for himself that the barrel was cut but if not, that doesn't mean the gun you sold him was problematic because of that.
