I ran across a pretty nice stainless Rossi Puma M92 in .480 Ruger today. I had never seen nor heard of one before. What are the thoughts on the value?

A 480 Ruger in a 1892 would be something to see. Very strong action and even stronger with modern steel. Rossis, like new Marlins, need some fit and finish help. Nothing difficult, just a stone to some of the edges, especially the inside of the load gate. The trigger was easy to clean up and fine tune as well.

The M92 I had took a dummy round in the bolt to hold all ejector parts in place during the reassembly. A trick to remember if it follows you home one day.

They made 100 of them. Average price is about $1500. 454's are uncommon but not rare like the .480. Blue is harder to find than stainless.

I know this is a dated thread, but the title caught my eye and wanted to provide updated info regarding market value for the subject. Gunsamerica has "sale pending" for NIB Rossi Puma Model 92 stainless in 480 Ruger, $445. That is item number 954500834 on their website. I don't have any affiliation with that sale, and there's no date that I could find so could be outdated, but "sale pending" implies it is current and figured it could contribute for an answer to the question posed in the original post, so sharing.

I have tried for years to get hold of one of the 480's. Every time I found one bidding always went well over $2000. Hell no! For a few hundred more, I bought a Big Horn Armory 89 in 500S&W mag. Way easier to find ammo for. I do reload, so I could reload the 480, but component prices are ridiculous. I do see, however, that Big Horns prices have nearly doubled as of late, so maybe I lucked out buying one when I did. I do.have a couple Rossi 92's...a 357 and one in 44 mag. The 44 is my absolute favorite lever gun to shoot.

IMO, this is another one of those cases where “seems to me“ Rossi could easily bring back the 454 and 480 rifles and rake in sbust a tail money with very little money to be spent in development. The demand is certainly there. Make some more!

Since it is the .480 “Ruger”…. And Ruger is now making Marlins… I keep hoping that Ruger will modify a Marlin design and chamber it in .480! Seems logical to me.

I found mine on Gun Broker ~ like I said I won the bid at $1200, but they were averaging 1500 - $1800 at the time (Christmas, 2021), IF you could find one...
I got real lucky❗
I LUV this rifle...
FYI ~ Hornady 325g hollow point at about 120 yards - deer neck shot - went down like a lead brick.
Now I'm neglecting my 1970 M94 30-30.

Rossi came out with several calibers in the M92 ~ this was when the Anti-Gun o'Bama crowd was raising 😳 havoc...
They cut production on the od caliber offerings and went to the basics.
There were Only 100 of the 480 Rugers produced. These are the only lever action 480's ever made.

I won the bid on one Christmas day in 2021 for $1200.
They were averging $1500 - 1800 at that time.
I have a matching Ruger Super RedHawk in 480 ruger as my hog 'n bear brush guns.
