I just instaled Steves guns peep sight. The one that replaces the silly little safety on the bolt. Instaled easily (I thought) The thing was so loose it felt like it would fall out. After I cut A new groove for the pin to fit, it is tight. I hope it stays. It adjusted to point of aim easily. But the peep ( basicly A Skinner Low Pro) is screwed up at least .5" from the base. looks silly. And easily damaged. Guess I will have to come up with A lower front sight but it will look like A nub on the barrel if I shorten it down to where the rear sight looks right.
Also got plug screws for the holes in the barrel under the factory sight. ( these are there to mount A scout scope.) The plug screws are to long to fit flush. Better than the holes but not great. The dovetail filler fit fine. The stuff works but I am not thrilled with the quality for the price.
Anyone else used this stuff? How did it work for you?:questionmark:

I had to use a taller front sight, had to grind a new slot on both of mine to tighten them up as well. Other than that I like the sight, we use ours for hunting. If we were to do some cowboy action shooting I would have to use tang sights. If the action is stiff change the ejector spring, it will be a different riffle. If you don't have a spring already google the gun slinger spring kit, if I were buying again this is the route I would go.

Good to hear about your action, both of our 92's were stiff. Changed the spring and now they are smooth as butter, one finger operation with little effort. My stainless had feeding issues, it has since worked it's self out. The Wife's 92 hasn't had a hiccup as of yet, eats 38's and 357's without problems.

I thought about going that route myself. But I decided to use the Ghost Ring instead. I have a Skinner Express on my STBL and love it. But I really like the GR for the '92.

i don't own a Rossi M92 but remember reading a thread where a Williams peep made for a m94 winchester was installed to a 92. These are mounted to the side of the reciever with 2 threaded holes. Should be easy to drill and tap as the holes go thru the reciever, they are not blind holes so all you need is a drill bit and tapered tap. Just make sure the screws aren't too long. Winchester and Marlin leverguns i've installed this sight to have worked with factory front sight height.....Mike

I've wondered if the Steve's sight or something similar could be mounted without disabling the safety. Turn the sight and all to engage. As an added bonus the safety status would be readily discernable when bringing the rifle up to aim.

I got a .357 16" Rossi last spring because I was tired of looking for an octagon 24" barrel without the safety. I knew about Steve's Gunz sight, so I bought the rifle. Then I ordered the sight and the screw plugs, the action kit, and the video.
First, the video. Although I'm sure Steve knows what he's doing, the video is fairly useless to me. All one sees is the right side of the gun while he unscrews things and magically pulls stuff out of the receiver and puts them back in. Not one shot down into the receiver to see what is happening there. His artistic skills are about third grade level. I didn't get much use out of it.
The filler screws do not come flush with barrel, not even close.
So, then I installed the sight. As stated above, loose as a goose. I like it when a vendor states "some gunsmithing required", as I tend to avoid those products. Steve lets on that these are easily customer installed items. They are not. Anyway, I wrote Steve and asked him about this and he provided a couple of different ways to go about remedying the issue. He says that this is common (would have been good to know that before ordering). His response was totally inadequate, incomprehensible, and frankly, nearly illiterate. He admits he cannot write like a "technical manual" but it seems he could have answered simple questions such as "Does one remove the breech block before sight installation? How hard does one expect to hammer on the sight base to get it in?" Etc. It seems that he would rather insult me and call me stupid ("...you don't get it" were his exact words) than to answer product questions, or follow up with customer service. I have never been treated so callously and cavalierly by a gun-related business. Ever. I will never have a good word to say about this guy and his products. I have gone back to the factory sight until I can find another that works. I will use the video for a very expensive target. That's about all it's good for.

snglstack,

I understand what you are saying, I had a poor experience as well. I was not pleased with the overall way business was done.

I do not like bashing someone but, I will not be purchasing from him again. Nor will I recommend him to anyone.

I was not happy for example, what I paid for the front sight. I could have bought the marble arms front sight from marble arms including shipping for less than what the purchase price from him was for just the sight, before his shipping charge.

I though take responsibility for that, I should have done better homework. But everything I read pointed to him as the goto source for parts for the Rossi and seen no information on other options.
