Not been on here in a while, just been real busy.
I live about 1-1/2 hrs from Buds in Lexington, so I drove up a couple weeks ago a bought a Rossi 92 357, 16" barrel, large loop lever.
I wanted a 24" model with regular lever, but this was all they had, except for a stainless model with a 20" barrel.
But I wanted a blued model.
blued model was $441.00, stainless model was $542.00
Today on Buds site, the blued model is $451.00, or spend $30.00 for a Team Buds membership and get it for $438.00

While at the store I checked it out, loaded a couple of snap caps, checked barrel, sights, etc.
Worked good, fairly smooth.
I completely stripped it by using Steve Young's DVD, couldnt have done it without it.
I then installed the gunslinger spring kit from Brownells,
GUNSLINGER RIFLE SPRING KITS | Brownells
I also replaced the mag follower with a stainless one,
The Smith Shop-Magazine Follower
I was having trouble cycling 357 rds.
The cartridge guides had sharp corners at the top front corners, causing the brass to jam just before entering the chamber.
While I had it apart, I used a jewelers file to round the points, then finished with 600 grit paper.
357 was also jamming about 2/3 of the way through the loading gate, they were dragging and catching just to the left of the mag follower, so I sanded that area also.
Round tip ammo was working fine, just the flat nose, hollow points were catching.
Well it cycles the flat nose and HP just fine now.
Applied some white lithium grease around the lever, bolt connections,
Very smooth, cycles reliably and fast.

Also removed the safety, and replaced it with one of Steves plugs.

I wrapped the lever with buckskin to see how it looks.
trying to decide on what leather to use for the butt cuff/cartridge holder, sling and lever wrap.
dont know if I will use the buckskin, may go with some heavier cowhide leather.
May do a lace on sling, if its not comfortable, will use sling swivel mounts.
this 92 will be used foe hunting, when out checking traps, or walking down to the fishing pond.
Want to be able to sling it across my back, out of the way, but have quick access to it.

thank you cornbread.
My rossi hangs up with the 357 just like yours.
While I had it apart I sanded the area just to the left, just before the mag follower, it helped a lot.
sometimes one will hang up but not often.
partially open the bolt, then while looking down into the receiver, insert a 357 rd through the gate, you can see where it hits, just smooth that area..

Sweet gun. I might get one of those. I actually want the large lever, 16" and blue. Those .357/38 are too pricey and hard to find in Marlin. By the way nice to see a fellow wood burner on the site. I love my chainsaws and woodstove almost as much as my Marlins.

Thank you Poppa,
I was hesitant about rossi, so decided to give it a try, im pleased with it.
Rossis just need a little fine tuning, and they work fine.
Ive been busy bringing in firewood, got a cord left over from last year, so started on a second cord.
Took my fireplace propane insert out, and told the gas company to come get their propane tank.
got over 60 acres of heavy forest and 10 acres of pasture, Buddy of mine told me I was stupid if I wasnt burning wood.
put me in a small wood box stove, heat and cook on it if need be, then got myself a well bucket in case the electric goes off, which it usually does.
Bought the George McQueen Farm in southeast KY.
George McQueen was the fourth greatgrandfather of Steve McQueen.
Stones in the fireplace are from the first home they built in the 1760s.

I can build a fire, go out and check the traps, then come back and warm by the fire.

Thank you NIS.
I ordered a uncle mikes sling swivel set last night.
Amazon.com: Uncle Mike's Quick Detachable Marlin .357 Magnum / 1894C Carbine Split Band Sling Swivels (Blued, 1-Inch Loop): Sports & Outdoors
Its for a marlin, but should work fine as long as its for a 357 in order to fit the mag tube.
started working on the sling last night.
It will be a 1" strip of 8 oz,(1/8" thick) leather stained brown.
Butt cuff will be the same, add as many cartridge loops as I can.
May start on the butt cuff pattern today.
I measured this rifle with a yardstick, 33"
sure will be easy to carry around, easy to maneuver also.
I have a blackhawk in 357, but may match it up with a 22 combo revolver.

Heres a pic of a RR and single six.
I can add this Buck folder and have everything I need for a quick hunting trip.

This is the DVD I used.
Rossi 92 DVD - $29.95 : Steve's Gunz, The Home of the Rossi 92 Specialist
Put my laptop on the table, rifle laid out in front, tool kit to the side, just like a surgeon.
Steve made it very easy.
I think I used Steves ejector spring instead of the one I got from Brownells.
The factory ejector was shooting cartridges 20 ft away,
But Steves ejector has them landing right at my feet.
I replaced the trigger, lever and hammer springs, I can now cycle this rifle with my little finger.
Trigger is very light and crisp.
I believe the spring set from Brownells was $15.00.
It is marked $25.00, but when I logged into my account, the price came up $15.00
I got Steves tool kit also.

I was hesitant with the price, but it was worth it.
The impact driver helped me with a stubborn screw.
No screw heads were injured during this process, I am very thankful for that.
I dont like damaged screw heads, something I seem to always do, just getting old and unsteady.
the drivers fit all the screws perfectly.
I bought the mag follower from the smith shop, it was $17.00 with shipping.
Steves was $29.90 with shipping.

Finished the butt stock cover and added a few more coats of tru oil and gunstock wax.
Was in hobby lobby in Lexington a while back, saw a large bag of scrap leather, $6.00
Grabbed it up I did.
It had some large pieces of white leather, 7 to 8oz, so I dyed them brown and used them for the project.

I used heavy weight linen thread waxed with beeswax.
10 loops with 8 rds in the mag, gives me 18 rds on the rifle.
Sling swivels will be in next week, sling is already cut and ready to go.

Hello, I am new to this forum and new to Rossi as well. I just purchased a Rossi 92 in .44 mag. When I took it out of the box I noticed that the ears on the breech bolt that slip past the hammer look like the breech bolt fell about 10 feet and landed on a hard surface. While I don't think the ends of the breech bolt will affect anything operationally, it is dissappointing to have a new rifle that is not in excellent condition. The bottome of the slot in the reciever where the breech bolt travels also is not totally square. It looks like whatever machined the slot for the breech bolt knurled out the edges of the receiver a bit. Does anyone know if it is possible to work with Rossi to resolve issues like this? I was thinking perhaps they could send me a new breech bolt at least. Any thoughts?
