I dug my late fathers 513T out of the rear of my safe and pulled the old 4X Japan made scope off and put a 3-9 Leupold on it that I just set the parallax for 50 yds. for shooting target and the KYL spinner target. The rifle is from 1956 and was for quite some time my Dads squirrel killer. He glued the Weaver bases on years ago so as to not drill any holes that didn't come from the factory. The trigger is alittle hard to what I am used to but with a little more concentration I can shoot it OK. Took it out yesterday and did some shooting at 50 yds. The rifle and scope performed just fine with no issues of any kind. The green dot was my bore sighter spot looking through the barrel. Wasn't to far of with the first shot but I then moved it left and down and went to far left. Just left it there while shooting some of the targets so as to not shoot away my aiming point. I later got it closer to zero with time getting limited on how long I could stay at the range. Here is a picture of the old Remington that has been a fantastic rifle all these years.

When I was in Boy Scouts we had a rifle team our instructor was a big time world class shooter Jack McCann,he had 3 Anchutes, a Winchester target,a Remington target.with 10 boys = 2 teams our team score ave.was 98. our first shoot we went to Camp Warren Levas in Alton Ill.there were about 100 boys there, they were laughing at us because Jack's 2 boys were the only ones who had a full uniform. Well they soon got quite as we uncased our rifles 5 Anchutes he bought 2 more so we would look better, we all shot 100's except Steve he shot 98.Yep we spanked them all IIRC the next score was a 78, not bad for a bunch of farm boys.

Beautiful rifle, bandit, and it is a shooter for sure. The fact that it was your Dad's even makes it better.

Like other posters, I started out shooting in Scouts as well, then JRROTC. Still have 54 year old patch from a match in Atlanta. IIRC we always shot longs in practice and competition, back in the day, but I can't remember what brand. About 15 years ago I ran into this rifle. The Unertl helps, but I have fired a group with it that measured .244" (5 shots) at 100 yards. This rifle actually likes Win Wildcat!

1948, 513-T w/ 16X J Unertl.

Rifle Team, 1965. We each fired 50 rounds 3 or4 days a week. I guess that would be called mass shooting in the 60's.

Yup----Those 513T shoot pretty good. I also still have my old Rem 514 single shot bolt 22 with a Williams peep on it. All good rifles.

My 513T is a US Gov. Prop. marked one & did not want to drill it for mounts, but would like to see what it will do with a scope. The idea of maybe JB welding on mounts sounds like a possibility! Thanks!
I also was Capt. of our JrROTC rifle team back in '61-'62. Boy Scouts & that was great training!

I am quite fond of the 513T.
Mine is extremely accurate with standard velocity , or subsonic ammunition.
I am always on the lookout for a Unertl scope and mounts for it.
Perhaps I will get lucky some day.
In the meantime I use the sights it came with.
Redfield 75's, and they work very well.

I've had several 513Ts all tack drivers. Last one I had was full dress with adj butt plate, palm rest, hand stop and a 6x Fecker scope.
My Bro pestered me for it and I traded it to him. He liked it so well he drug it around squirrel hunting. Then he screwed up and traded it for a 541s which isn't near the gun a 513T is. My official Turkey Shoot 22 is a Rem RB with a 513T barrel and match sights. It will shoot 3/8" at 100' and that's with the RB hammer. In a 513T I believe it would shoot into one hole at 100'. The 513T would shoot right with the 52 Win for a lot less money.

Several years ago our club had a start up bench rest match shooting three ARA targets members had some fine target rifles, but no full customs. A mix of Anschutz 54, Win 52, Rem 40x,etc.. Well my friend uncases a Remington 513, and proceeded to beat us all soundly with it, I was shocked!
