I'm considering buying a Rossi R92 in .357 Magnum? Should I go with the 16" or 20" barrel? This will probably be an under 100 yard rifle for me...

same question i have been having since i can't find a marlin version in a sane price range
short means less ammo by two rounds, but it would not stick out so much in the brush
i can order 20inch today but no 16 inch in stock at distrubitor as last week

I've got the same question only I am looking at the 24" R92-51001 octagon barrel or the 20" R92-56001. There is a manufactures list of $559.00 for the 20" and $619.00 for the 24". The only reason I would buy the 24" over the 20" would be a difference in accuracy and I don't know if the difference in price would be worth it. What kind of retail prices are you guys seeing where you live?

OK...just finished cleaning & oiling the rifle with Eezox. I also installed a stainless steel magazine follower from The Smith Shop. The magazine tube has a slight side to side movement...even after I snugged up the barrel band clamp. The magazine spring is very strong. The rounds do not go in easily. I might buy the spring kit from Brownells. The action is smooth enough, and should get better with use. The buttstock isn't coming off. I removed the top screw and pulled like crazy. It might need a few taps with a rubber mallet to loosen it up. Ejection is very positive. Do not rack the lever at waist level. You will have casings in your face. I took a snap cap to the head. LOL

I have a 38/357 in a 16 ",I'm wanting to get another one.I 'm thinking about a 20" barrel.I love my 16",it small ,easy to shoot. Those of you that have a 16 " with the large loop, how do you like the large loop? Is it hard to work the lever?I have found one of those for $450 OTD,but didn't know if I'd like the large loop.I like the looks of it though.
Thanks Jeff

I also am trying to decide between the 16" or 20" stainless R92 in 357 mag. I would like to handle both, but no one has them in stock locally. The 16" would certainly be handy but I wonder about the balance and feel. I think the 20" will have a slight velocity advantage, will probably balance and point better and tend to be slightly more accurate because of the longer sight radius. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.:hmmmm:

I just ordered the 16" R92 in SS, but in .44Mag. I havent handled one either, no one stocking them yet up here locally, so I took a leap of faith and ordered it any way. No idea how long ill be wating for it to come in, Im in Canada, could be weeks, could be months.

Mine will be used in the Bush for hunting, so I went 16" for weight and ease of manouvering.

Sumthin about that 24" octgon barrel and case colored receiver that just speaks to me...I think that's why I like my 336 CB in 38-55. As a kid, a friend's family had an old M94 Winnie in .25-35, long old octagon barrel, all browned and used to feed a couple generations of Carillos in Nevada and California. Crescent buttplate. They used to let me hold it while we all watched TV..."Outer Limits" (but I digress)
