Been doing some trading at the LGS lately. I recently picked up a 1980 S&W Mod 29 and a 2020 or 2021 Colt Anaconda. I haven't shot either of these yet, but hope to very soon. The Colt originally came with some aftermarket finger grove Packmayr grips which just didn't fit my hands right. I was able to trade them for a set of Hogue grips which were standard on that handgun.

Picked up a brace of 44 Mag revolvers

Congrats on a couple nice looking 44’s. The 29-2 appears to be a 6”? If so I have its twin. I looked quite awhile to find one. Hope yours shoots as well as mine does. Enjoy!

I too had a 29-2 but in 6.5”, and an 1992 Anaconda. Sadly I just couldn’t get into 44 because I had to admit it was more recoil than I could enjoy so I sold them. Even more sadly, this was early in my firearms knowledge and didn’t know the 44spl existed

Congrats on two nice revolvers. I'm partial to the Smiths and have a 29-3 and 629 both with 8-3/8" barrels I use for deer hunting.
I don’t want to drift away from the post about these two nice 44’s, but I will a bit.
It was mine and another friend’s guns that “alerted” Bob Baker to the Lil Gun. I won’t go into the whole story as it is a long one. I will relay one fact. After I had destroyed two FA barrels, my friend had a 454 that he had shot for 12 years with full loads of H110 and forcing cone was fine. He loaded 50 rounds with Lil Gun and it ruined his barrel. Again it’s a long story and the powder was the last thing anyone thought of. Bob later tested it in a .357 and the cone eroded with minimal rounds. Believe it or not, I don’t care. But it ain’t a myth.

Very nice Christmas presents for you. You're making me want to go shopping - I need to add at least one of those to my safe. My Ruger Alaskan and Super Blackhawk Hunter are getting lonely.
Nice pair of handguns. I have a 1990, Model 29, 8 3/8 with the factory rings and grooves on the barrel. I have a Weaver mounted on it and it is very accurate with full house W296 and 240g XTP. It has taken a few whitetail for the freezer. It would be carried more on my hikes if it was a 6". By the way my wife gave it to me as a wedding present.
I love me some 44 magnum guns. I have a 629, pictures next to a 657 in 41 magnum. Just pit and the money down on a 4” Colt Kodiak for my birthday. Paired with a Henry in 44 mag, I’m feel good with just about anything I may need gun wise to go on a walkabout! You made a couple of good picks there imho. Let us know how they run for you!
