That looks like a job for sure. No way would I try it.

 

You're a brave man. I pulled the instrument cluster out of my F150 to fix a known issue with a cold solder joint on the circuit board that would black out the odometer. Got it fixed, but lets just say I'm glad I picked a hot day so the plastic was a little more pliable.

 

On my 2000 F150 I also had to do the same thing.....! Factory defect I guess, still have that 2000, drove it while the Titan is down......! lol!

I've been involved in many quagmires over the years but removing a dash is not one I want to add to the list. I'd end up leaving the dash out for easy access the next time.
I long for the days when vehicles were simple and easy to work on. We don't need half the stuff they stick on them now days, it's no wonder most can't afford them anymore.

 

I did the one by the gas peddle on my Titan awhile back. I didn’t remove anything but it was a real pain. Dealer quoted around $700. I bought the part on Amazon for $26 and did it myself. I loved my Titan but I got tired of fixing it. It was the best riding truck I’ve been in, I hated getting rid of it.

 

Well Bearcat 74 there is two motors by gas pedal one is much further up and thats the one I'm going after tomorrow!
As for removing the dash it was relatively easy, I didn't watch any Youtube videos, because their is none! Lol!
Only way I get another truck is if I win on the lottery! I've always did my own work on all what I drove! These Titan's are just a different animal! Brother has the proper code reader "Snapon" to clear all codes I know will be popping up on it!

Follow whatever instructions you may have step by step. Go slow. Label parts. Stay organized. And (in this case) utoob is your friend. I just had to basically dismantle my rear hatch (inside and out) on my '11 Ford Edge to replace my backup cam. Ford wanted $1200 bucks to do it but a replacement Dorman backup cam from Rock Auto and a few hours watching an in depth step-by-step vid saved me about $1000 bucks. Surely there is a how-to vid on utoob about dismantling a Titan dash. Good Luck!!

The trim work is all plastic, snap-crackle-pop! Have trim work ordered to replace what shatttered! LOL! Will take pictures what shattered.........!

Oh man, that sucks. Nice work though. From the look of things I think I’d rather replace a clutch.

The mode motor just failed on our Pilot, so I replaced it and cleaned out some leaves from the blower motor that we’re making a lot of noise while I was at it. Really simple layout, all I had to remove was the glove box, a kick panel, and a simple bolted in bar. Both the mode motor and the mixture motor are accessible from the floor area from there, just have to do the usual best impression of a contortionist.

Who ever came up with the idea of replacing the simple manual levers with these little electric motors was a terrible human being.

Next car we get I’m definitely going to research how easy it is to service the hvac’s blower motor and actuators before buying.

 

My cousin's brother-in-law is the dashboard guy at a Cadillac dealership. His hands are permanently twisted up and he can only enjoy art museums when he looks at the paintings upside down.

I partially removed the dash in my '82 Bonneville to replace the dash speakers.

My high school friend's older brother removed the dash out of his Opel GT just because.

"You dumb ass."

My '87 Legend coupe also requires the dash to be removed in order to get the HVAC box out to access the heater core and AC evaporator. Cooling system maintenance is about the only thing I do on-schedule.

 

Decided today to tackle two problems with my hvac system and heat on my Titan today! Full dash removal is a must to get to one motor! Blend motor is on very top of case for system, even with dash off it's still not the easiest motor to replace! Second motor sits on side towards drivers gas pedal! Best option is to take airducts off from top to get to it.

That is why I don't own a Titan. I had heard and seen on Youtube how difficult it was working on these trucks when it comes to working on something under the dash. The engineers were probably in a drunken stupor when they designed these trucks. Engineers are not always as smart as people make them out to be. I have seen some real stupid things designed by engineers. Especially when it comes to vehicles. And I know. The engineers that designed my 2005 Canyon should have been fired for their incompetence in the trucks design. People have been hurt and killed because of engineering failures. I have very little respect for engineers.

 

Being "handy" looks like it`s going to pay off...........big time.

 

I resemble that remark. But I work on 15,000t volt generators, so if I screw up you probably won't feel it and you get a free cremation.

 

Tackled second motor today and it was easier once I remove airducts on top and unplgged wires underneath. Three screws holds the complete assembly to side of housing, swapped motors and installed it back. Didn't attempt to install dash for now Rufus and I will be tracing wires and checking as to why the AC won't turn on!

Instead of using easy access screws to secure panels they have to use those stupid clips on everything which usually results in something getting broken when trying to remove. It's all about fashion over function.

 

Just for that you don't go in there.
