I thought my Guide Gun has been looking a little chunky lately, so I put it on a weight loss program.
After a session on my belt sander the fore end was all trimmed up, and then I filed the checkering off the butt stock. Since I don't use a sling, I also plugged the sling stud hole in the stock and installed a fore end cap without the stud.
The walnut on this gun is fairly dark, so no stain was needed during the re-finishing. Tung oil (the real stuff, not the miss-named hardware variety) seals the wood real good, and will be easy to maintain as it ages.
