The ? That I have is how do you use them. I have bad eyes at a young age I I was told that peep sight are a little easier to use than a traditional buckhorn style. I don't want to resort to a scope on this gun. If I go with one I like the skinner barrel mount but I'm open to suggestions.

While peep sights are indeed an improvement over bucks, depending on your eyesight condition, they may still not work for you.

I have a Skinner barrel mounted peep on my 60 and it is surely better than the factory offering. I run Tech Sight TSM200's on my 795 and they are better still.

The closer the peep is to your eye, the smaller the aperture can be, the better it sharpens your vision.

It essentially squints for you.

Also works, but not as well.

Here, you can see the squinting effect, in the very center of the aperture. The parts outside the very center are more blurred. Works well with glasses too.

Mine's a Williams receiver mount peep (the click adjustable one) with a Marlin-made aperture, from a Model 2000 target rifle.

Williams too. You slide it into the dovetail, like a scope ring, then tighten a screw down, that pulls up on the sight, wedging it in place.

I have Tech Sights on four Marlin .22 rifles. The primary rifle is a 795 on a laminated wood stock with Tech Sights, as said. I am 69 and although right handed I shoot left-handed because my left eye is my master eye and my right eye has little vision. I wear graduated tri-focals at all times. While I am far from a good shooter, I might call myself fair and getting better I do pretty well with the Tech Sights. Today I was shooting from a bench at an outdoor range. Not using a benchrest...just supporting the rifle with my hands and using the non-trigger arm elbow resting on the table. Out of 30 rounds at Dirty Bird Brand target set up at a 25 yard range I put 19 in the 1.5 inch bullseye and the other 11 were within the 3 inch 10 ring. Maybe that helps you decide what to do. I am just really a novice shooter unlearning bad habits and trying to learn good shooting form from stuff I learned at Appleseed.

I just put the Tech Sights on my 60. Haven't shot it yet, but I like the sight picture. I do like that the front sight is protected. Fast shipping. I was disappointed made in Tawian. Better then China, but if I knew I probably would have kept looking.

Do other guns use the dovetail receiver, rather then tapping? For years I didn't know I could mount anything without drilling and tapping.
