I've picked up an Marlin Safety 1893 25-20 Win Takedown made in 1900, looking around for information on this rifle I came across this video.

The rifle in the video is a 30-30 made in 1901 and at 2:03 in the video it shows 'Special Smokeless Steel' on the barrel. My 1900 25-20 has no such statement on the barrel.
The previous owner was using smokeless.

The previous owner had made up a bunch of rounds (June 2008 ), there is around a 100 rounds with a recipe of 8 grains of 2400 under an 86 grain Rem SP bullet CCI SR400 in NEW brass.
From the 1967 Lyman #44: It lists 7-9 grains of 2400 for an 86 grain jacket bullet.

Thanks to those that post copies of old reloading info!

The previous owner had made up another bunch of rounds (July 2010), there is around 50 rounds with a recipe of 7 grains of 2400 under an 86 grain Lead Cast, CCI SR400 in NEW brass.
From the 1951 'Ideal Handbook' #34: It lists 8 grains of 2400 under a 85 grain Lead Cast. Is a .25-20 Repeater the same as a .25-20 Win?

I'm going to 'pull' a few bullets and check powder charge weights. The 2017 & 2018 Hodgdon Annuals both have load listings for this caliber :) but not for 2400 powder.

Does anyone have an 'Exploded' parts view for one of these rifles or is it the same as a 1894/1895?
Is the disassembly for cleaning receiver the same as an 1894/1895?

Parts for these old guns, anyone know of a source for parts? I would like to get some screws- have a couple of buggered screws, a spare ejector, the hammer spring is way,way stronger than any of my other Marlins-increases the effort required to cycle and I would like to find a rear leaf sight & ladder.

When I google "Marlin Safety" mostly all that comes up is the rants about cross bolt safeties . Anyone have or know where I'd find more info on the care and feeding of theses rifles.

Thanks

My 1894, 1895 DOM, is marked 25-20 M. It doesn't matter any more when it got relined it was chambered with a standard 25-20 WCF reamer.
Your hammer spring is probably a flat spring, not coil like the new ones. I am not sure if all the old ones are that way or it was changed when Marlin brought them back out.
I have thought about seeing if any of my parts interchange with my 2006 44 mag. I just never have them apart at the same time.
eBay usually has parts for older Marlins.

There is no real difference between the .25-20M (Marlin) and the .25-20 WCF. Just another case of Winchester stealing a cartridge that Marlin introduced. The .25-20M came out in the Model 1889, and later in 1895 Winchester offered it in their Model 1892. Both cartridges will interchange between the two rifles.
There's no problem shooting smokeless ammo in an 1894 Marlin, regardless of the type of barrel it has. It's a very strong barrel and actions never changed regardless of which barrel was on them.
Curious why today you thought your 1894 was an 1893, when previously you posted about it being an 1894?

Thanks,
I thought it was an 1894 then looking at the stamping on the barrel and seen the 1893 on the barrel and the take down looks exactly the same as the one in the video of the 1893.
Then AMM said it was a 1984 :banghead: went and re-watched video and seen the 1893 on the tang.
Got the screw drivers out and removed peep site to find Model 1894.
