There should have been a mention in there about taking the bolt out, dropping it in a small bowl/container of carb cleaner, and letting it sit overnight ;)

The extractor should move a little, not much, but enough to engauge properly...

Also hosing it down with WD-40 and using the straw to help focus the spray in the area can often help.

Worst case scenario, if nothing works, buy a pair from Numrich or Marlin and install 'em...or have a smithy do it.

This is pretty much what we've done. Just waiting to test fire it now.

Ok, testing has been completed by my son. I had him keep every possible round that jambed. It appears to be a feed issue. The rounds are not going into the barrel straight.

I'm questioning whether to replace all the springs in this thing or go to the new feed throat, breech bolt and hammer assembly. Anyone out here been down this road before that can give me some insight?

Bump for reply?

This is essentially the same action as the Model 60. You can certainly replace the feedthroat, cartridge lifter and ejector spring with the new type. If you do, you will also have to replace the bolt or machine one side of the feedthroat to fit the contour of the old bolt. I just did all of that on my old model 60 and am still in the process of working the kinks out. The jury is still out as to whether or not it's going to work but I believe it will.

you need a new feedthroat, that is your issue guaranteed, basically you need the feedthroat conversion kit available from marlin.if you cant get your action assembled let me know and i will gladly assemble it for you(of course you will need to mail it but if you get the feedthroat conversion kit i will gladly do that for you as well) no charge for this except pay for shipping back to you. of course i will need the bolt as it is the original feed throat style as well so if you want to go this route just use a usps small flat rate box ships for around 6$

I picked up a 1975 Glenfield model 75 I restored needed a mag tube found 1 on ebay for 10 bucks used, works fine. btw holds 10 rounds but getting 10 in the tube a little tough so i put 1 in chamber and 9 in the tube. Great little rifle runs smooth and dead on target Had the same problem when i got this one, did a complete breakdown used brakekleen, hard to belive how much crud i got out of it! Oiled everything put it back together shoots anything i put in it even rem gold bulk that are real junk.
Good luck happy shootin:biggrin:
