Hi everybody!

My name is Henning, 41 yo, from Germany and I own 4 Marlins Lever Action.

I subscribed here because I am wondering about one of them...I own the 1894s Cowboy Limited in .357mag, .44mag and .45LC. They all do have the octagon 24" Barrel of course.
I knew, that these calibers are typicall for the 1894 Cowboy Limited. Now I bought a 1894 CB Cowboy Limited in 44/40, also 24" octagon barrel... I never knew that this caliber was part of the 1894 Cowboy Limited Series :hmmmm2:
I googled that gun but I found - nothing! Can anybody tell me more about that gun? :beerglass:

Cheers, Henning

Welcome to the forums!!!
It is defintiely one of the series! I do own one in 44-40 (I like yourself LOVE the Marlin cowboys with the octagon barrels!). I forget the years it was produced off-hand and I'm at work so I can't look it up, but I can tell you it is a pleasure to shoot!
Currently I own the 44-40 and 45LC like you do, but I also have them in 38-55, 30-30 and the 1895 version in 45-70! Congrats on owning a gorgeous limited edition Marlin!
I'm still looking for the other two models you have! That 44mag especially!

Thank you!

So there are more 1894 Cowboy Limited versions? Do the 38-55 and 30-30 also have the 24" octagon barrel?

And the best....the .357, .44 and .45 are all JM stamped :)

The 44-40 is still at the dealer, in Germany we are only allowed to buy 4 guns a year....I can get that Marlin first in March....but I payed it, its mine...

I will make a photo this evening...

Welcome to the forum from Oklahoma! And did I read correctly, 4 guns a year limit? Yikes. Looks like you have a great collection of CB's, have fun with them!

They are all "versions" of the "Cowboy series" of rifles with octagon barrels. My 38-55 and 30-30 are 336-CB and they all have 24" octagon bbls. Except for the 1895, that has a 26" octagon bbl.
Here's a "family" portrait...the only one not in there yet is the 45LC...gotta get them all out for another pic!!!
Top to bottom:
1895 26"bbl 45-70
1894 44-40
336-CB 30-30
336-CB 38-55

By the way....what do the serial numbers tell me? Here they are:

.357mag: 93233xxx
.44mag: 98214xxx
.45lc: 04039xxx

Thank you! Although they are "young", they habe JM stamps...is that logically?

Here are my babies...from top to down 45LC, 44mag, 357mag (with mounted weaver for red dot (ammo testing)) and below my S&W .357mag Target Champion....the others (muzzle loaders) are not on the pic....

btw...is it possible to become NRA member as foreigner?

Yes... The JM stamp was dropped by Remington and replaced with their own REP stamp on different barrels between 2009 and 2010...They also started using MR to start the serial numbers... Sie haben einige sehr schöne Gewehre ...

Danke! Sie sprechen deutsch?

So all Marlins produced before 2009 are "real" Marlins?

Ich spreche etwas Deutsch ...My great grandfather came from Germany and when he got older only spoke German to us... I've forgotten most of it as he died 45 years ago... I still remember a little, I am sure my grammer would be considered horid to a true German speaker...

Hast Du einen deutschen Nachnamen? Du sprichst gutes Deutsch, gerade wenn man bedenkt, dass es so lange her ist.
Du you have a german family name? Your german is good, especially considering the long time since u learned it.
