Hey everyone,

I have a chance to grab a decent 15Y bolt action single shot for $99 (plus shipping and FFL).

I've been wanting a single shot (don't ask me why, I just do), and this is a chance to bring my Marlin rifle count up to 4.

What do you think? In general, is it worth it?

That is a fair price. I bought one several years ago when the grandson was still a little kid. IIRC I paid about $115.00 out the door. I never did any accuracy work with it. It was bought to teach proper gun handling techniques. It was used mostly to ventilate soda cans. Mine had grooves so mounting a scope was easy. It would make a dandy truck gun. Most all of the older Marlins always shot better than they should based on their price. At that price you should be able to get your money back anytime you decide. Have you bought it yet? Be sure to post pictures.

Well, I definitely don't need it. I have 3 other 22lr rifles, a 22 mag, and a .17 hmr. I had an old Noble single shot bolt that you had to manually cock that I ended up giving to my brother-in-law, and I miss having a single shot in the collection.

It's a cool old rifle, and it's a Marlin.

Oh yeah, and it will be a great trainer for my 5 year when he starts shooting :)

I'm going to get it!

I raise 2 boys and a few neighborhood kids on a 15Y and it's still in good shape...except #1 son found a 1/2"x28 die one day and fitted it with a can. Still shoots the same and the suppressor makes it a fun thing to have around. Maybe someday he will turn his back and I'll bring it home with me.
