Hi all,

I'm wondering if someone can please help me determine the manufacture year of my Marlin 336 chambered in .35 remington. My step mom recently gave me this gun, that her father owned. I was under the impression that it was purchased in the 1930's, but now I think I may have misunderstood. It's in very good condition, with only a few minor scuffs, and has been drilled and tapped. The serial begins with 69 followed by a space and a 6 digit number. Can anyone tell me what year this was manufactured with that information, or do I need the give the full serial (didn't want to list on here so I can PM if I need to). I read that subtracting the first 2 digits from 100 to get the manufacture year is only good for those manufactured 1973 or after. I appreciate any help you can give.

Thanks

It can be confusing. In 10 years, Marlin had 4 different date code systems. A-Z, then AA, AB, AC, and AD, then the first two digits were the year, then subtract the first two digits from 100.
Now you need to post some photos.
