Making a replacement for the Marlin white bullseye

I need a couple of the white rubber bullseyes that marlin used in their stocks. I know some of you DIY'ers out there have made your own. I know I can ebay some for $7 each, but I would rather spend $2 at Michaels and drive out $10 of gas and do it myself.

So what did you use. Any suggestions appreciated.

The ones Midway sells can be sliced in half using a utility knife to make two replacements,
as they are a bit longer than is necessary.
To do the repair right, you need to drive the new bullseye in, then contour it using sandpaper,
then refinish your stock.

Often thought about making one out of brass and drill the center and put in black silicone. Reckon you might be able to make one from a white ink pen barrel.

What I encourage is to make and invent and share what you have done. It's all good when you make a custom Marlin.

Got a few in from ebay. One went in just fine, cut off the excess with a serrated bread knife, filed it down to meet the contour of the stock. Take your time and check your work often when you get close to the wood. Used the cutoff portion to do a 35 Rem that had lost its bullseye. It was a tight fit, I chucked it in a dremel tool and turned it against 220 sand paper backed by a popsicle stick. A couple tries, few taps with a brass hammer and the second one was done. They came out really nice.
Thanks for the help

A little late to this, but just for info remember seeing a post in here some time ago where somebody made their own out of two different types of wood (dark/light) to replace their plastic ones. I thought he did a good job, and looked pretty slick myself...
