Im debating on one of several rifles. The thing that turns me off on guide guns are the short mag tubes. Is there a kit, or one of you guys that makes a tube that goes out to the end of the barrel? Do they make springs for the extra length?

Now that Ive read on this board for awhile, what I really wanted was a 45-70, not the 30-30 I have. I love my 30-30, but Im looking for the close in big thumber.

I also like lots of bullets, so I want to stuff in as many 45-70s as I can.

Pard I did mine myself. I ordered a 45-70 Cowboy tube from Brownells. Cut it to length, cut the new dove tail with a file and modified a 3/8 dovetail blank to fill in the old dovetail. The spring is the same old spring. As a matter of fact the SBL spring is the same length as the Guide Gun spring. Now I can stuff 6 in the mag and 1 in the chamber. Works great and cost me all of $40. ;D

Lever Addict,
Nice rifle. Not to hijack the thread, but what kind of scope is that?

Hello Gonzo and all other marlin folks out there
I have a Marlin 1895GS and I would like to install full length magazine tube.
IT´s just that I have BIG/HUGE/SEVERE difficulties finding the actual tube.. I have been in contact with my dealers but no one of them can help me.
Do you have any idea?
I really need to get my hands on a full length stainless magtube!
Kind regards from Sweden!
/Niclas

Gonzo tell me about that cheek piece on your SBL. How does it stay on, how much rise do you get, where did you get it?
It's a kick eez pad which come in a few thicknesses for different height of comb. They peel and stick and are often used by clay target shooters. I got mine from Natchez shooters it was under 15 bucks.

Great jobs on the extended tubes.

GONZO,
Did you have any trouble getting the SBL tube and what was the cost? Did you cut your own dovetail or have it done. I have a Stainless guide that is begging for a SBL tube.

Thanks,
Ken TN

Cost is under $40. A friend of mine has a mill set up for dovetails, he did it in 5 min. Your going to have to call Marlin and get the parts person to like you. Try this: "Hows the weather there today? are you Remington guys happy now that your stocking parts for Marlin? I need a replacement part for an sbl 1895, I think it's #2011130-00 can you help me". Right now there is a little confusion with the parts dept. no longer at the Marlin factory but the folks I've talked seemed liked they really wanted to do a good job.
