I for one think the lock should be optional.

OBVIOUSLY not! You don’t get to be the number one gun manufacturer bein‘ “out of touch”!

 

A lot of old guys at gun shows about to get real upset they can’t tout “pre locks” anymore.

 

I have owned one S&W with the lock and sold it. I much prefer the pre lock Smith's. Not a big deal I guess but since I have a choice I buy the pre lock guns.

 

Be nice if ruger marlin would follow smiths lead and delete the safety.

 

I've got quite a few Smiths, most without the lock. I'm definitely getting the new 686MG. Currently, my favorite carry revolver is a 3 inch 686-6+ with the lock.

 

Sign me up for a 686+ MG.

 

Agreed, once we move, I'm hoping to find a 686+ MG available, and snag it! I love everything about it.

When is this move happening? Why not just get an old original? Price shouldn’t be much different and better quality.

 

And now they’ve announced another, a Undercover in I believe 32H&R Mag

 

Actually 3 more. I hope I get the model numbers correct; 422, 432, 332. Two are 32H&R Mags and one is a 38 Special

 

The locks don't bother me. They're easy enough to remove if you don't like them, but would it be funny if one day people were charging more for guns with the lock? "Rare, internal lock S&W!"

 

I’ve had table vendors at shows try to convince me that the REP stamp marlins are rare and gaining collector value, which is why they can only sell their 336W for “$1,100 and they’d be losing money.”

 

I saw a blurb that showed revolver sales, Colt - 4, Ruger - 3, S&W - 2, and Heritage/Taurus - 1

Saw this on the S&W forum, can't vouch for accuracy: "Dealer cost on these is $989.00"

I'm sure the prices will be steep at first. I'm going to wait a while for some reports on quality, etc. I figure it might take a year for demand to slow enough that prices will fall down to $1100 ish.

 

For me it will be a toss up between a 686 MG or Model 19 Classic...or more likely which ever one I can get my hands on first. I've stayed away from new S&W's because of the hillary-hole.
