I'm new here so please forgive me if this has been discussed before, but does anyone else have trouble cycling the hornady leverevolution ammo through their rifles. It doesn't seem to feed or extract well from my 1895G.

I didn't have any issues in my 1980 made 1895 rifle. Accuracy wise, my rifle didn't much care for them so I only tried one box.

Personally I think it's a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.....I haven't tried it yet because the Remington core lokt works so well in 150 grain and 170 grain that I've never seen the reason to use it for the extra feet per secound I will get from it and I keep hearing these stories to boot!...Now I DO like the Hornady critical duty in my 1911 and it feeds in all of my 1911's.

I have never shot them in the 1895 but did not like them in the 336 30-30. they did not seem to be consistent on target. I only shoot reloads in both now. I am also working towards reloading for the m1a soon. I have acquired all the stuff. Leave the LE alone and go with standard Federal, Winchester, Remington, they are proven deadly on game. they are reasonably priced compared to an additional $5.00 box for Hornady. just my 2 cents

My brand new Remlin Guide Gun loves them. It cycles them just fine so far and they are very accurate out of my gun. They have a lot more recoil than anything else I tried so far. I can't decide what I'm going to hunt with yet. I really like the 405 grain Remingtons.

From what I understand (I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong) the older Marlins have an orange flat-faced follower in the magazine tube that doesn't jive well with the pointed, gummy tips of the Leverevolution rounds and this can cause feeding issues. There is a new red follower with a dimple in the face of it that allows the Hornady rounds to properly align and resolves the feeding and cycling issues.

A couple months ago, after having cycling issues with the Leverevolution rounds, I called Marlin to see about ordering one of the new followers. The customer service lady I spoke with was nice enough to send me a new follower at no cost. That told me that it was a common issue they were aware of and are offering a free fix. It might be worth it to call Marlin and see what they say, you never know, you might get a freebie. It was a fairly quick replacement. I'm not very mechanically savvy, but I was able to switch out the followers easily. No more feeding and cycling issues for me.

For what it's worth, I've mostly stopped shooting the Leverevolution rounds in my gun anyway in favor of the Remington 405 grains for factory ammo.

If it's strictly a feeding issue, from the loading ramp to the chamber, try (very slightly) bending out the extractor. I had the same issue with my 1895GS but after the slight adjustment it works great. Doesn't seem to effect any other shells from working in the gun.
