Lever Gun Synthetic Stock

I am aware that everyone asks about synthetic stocks for the Marlin lever guns, I've been looking for one for a while. I'm curious if anyone has a Ramline stock they would be willing to part ways with? I love my 444 and I want to preserve the original wood furniture. If this is a fruitless endeavor, I'm not surprised. Just curious is all. Thanks in advance

I think I read somewhere that they were two subsidiaries of a company that merged to one. The ramline stocks were produced under the champion name, however the quality took a bit of a hit a I read. I could be wrong as I haven't had hands on either, but that came from others on this forum.

Welcome to the forum from North Idaho. I totally get where you're coming from in wanting to preserve the walnut by replacing it with a synthetic stock for "work" duties. I did the same thing with a Springfield Armory M1A. It came with a beautiful walnut stock, and since I was going to use it for hunting, I obtained a military synthetic stock for use in the field. Of course, this was back in the 80's when things were available and prices were relatively cheap.

I don't think I've ever even seen one of the synthetic stocks for a Marlin, so I'm thinking the suggestion to get a replacement wood stock set might be the way to go.

Good luck in your search.

$285 for that one on GB. It is asking for a check as payment only, so I don't want to go that route. There was one on ebay I won the other day, but there was a mix up and it got sent to the wrong address and is lost unless it is returned to sender. It got worked out and there are no hard feelings there.

I have one of the Ramlines. Got it when you could for cheap. Since they haven’t been made in many years, they sell for well over what an actual wood stock does. The one I have is on a Remington production 336 that I chopped to 16” and cerakoted. Makes a great all weather gun. I don’t recall if any synthetic stocks were made for the T4. But in your scenario, probably makes the most sense to buy a beat up wood replacement. Or, just take your Marlin to the field and enjoy the signs of use it brings.

Here is the original and the ramline. Only a dry fit for now, I need to do some touch up for proper fit. Feels really good and will get some accuracy testing after hunting season is over (I'm in PA Special Regs area). All in all I'm happy with it so far. Will update when I have shooting time on it.
Also, not an ad, but if you guys are looking for a good riser kit for any rifle, these Beartooth sleeves are awesome. They have options for shotgun or rifle ammo loops, or just the riser with no loop. I have two and will definitely buy more.

I really like my boyds laminate stock. Keep the wood in the closet.
Nickmc: We NEED pics!

Josh: My Henry .44 Mag carbine came with slightly beat up walnut, so I ordered a new set ($100 +/- from HRA) and have the beautiful new walnut saved for “later”. Two sets of wood sure let’s you use a rifle “guilt free”!

I think I recall seeing that before Nick. Nice gun!

I’d like to cerakote my 336 BL some day. What color though?? QD scope is now a smaller 2-7x and I would keep the laminate furniture.

Thoughts?

I wouldn’t bother doing black, as the Remington blue is almost black. Iwas looking at some of the gray tones. Reality is, I have a 1963 Airstream, 1978 Grew 24’ boat and a recently acquired 1994 Bronco (like Walt Longmires) that all need money to finish their restorations before guns get any unnecessary bling…

I have one of the Ram Line stocks on my Winchester 94 in 32 WinSpl. While synthetic stocks do have several benefits to the traditional wood, I have learned that it does make the rifle quite a bit jumpier when you touch one off.
