Got some old Outdoor Life Magazines at a Garage sale yesterday. In the November 1989 issue was a Kmart sale flyer.
Any info on this model? Lots of differences between this one and the standard 336.

Looks like a shorter barrel...Different lever...hammer spur?

I really like the price!

I bought my 336 .35 Rem at K Mart in 1977 for $89. One of the most accurate guns that I've ever owned! Rechambered and restocked it, now it's a .358 Winchester, still shoots great. K Mart used to sell Marlins, er, before Rosie O'Donnel. Same Marlin as you could buy everywhere, I suspect you could buy that model, that year anywhere. BTW, stocked it myself, sold the original stock.

The flyer shows a Marlin Model 30TK which were produced between 1989-1990. They came with a 18.5 inch barrel but the barrel and tube mag configuration are pretty much unique. I have never seen another Marlin or store brand Marlin with that exact set-up. I have one and I wouldn't ever sell it.

Yep,I remember the good ol days, when you could buy a firearm in KMart with just an ID.The one in East Haven,CT had a large assortment of both handguns and rifles.Got my first S&W .357 model 19 ,4" barrel there for around $200? in 1982.I believe they even had Colt Pythons, but they were too pricey for me,around $350?

I bought my first reloading kit at a K-Mart in Olathe, KS in the early '70s. I was visiting my brother, and we had some reason to stop there. I noticed Lee Loader kits back in the Sporting Goods section and bought one (at age 15!!!). They also had shotgun wads, and bags of shot, which I also bought (for a 12 gauge shotgun). I don't think I bought my powder there, but I might have (that was a LONG time ago). Good times!

As others have said, that's a 30TK. I may be wrong, but I believe the 30TKs were manufactured with Ballard-rifled barrels. Between that, the Texan stock, and the barrel hookup, they're sought-after for a reason.

All the Marlin's I have handled/owned have the standard "curved" stock.
Does a straight stock allow a person to have your sight line higher? What I mean is that with my 336, it seems I have to bend my neck down quite a bit to have my eye aligned with the sights. It looks like a straight stock may allow a person to have more of a distance between their shoulder and their sight alignment.

Hope this makes sense...I may try and add a picture/drawing if it comes out decent.

When I go into a K-Mart now...I cannot even imagine them having guns/reloading items.

Also, the ad had a Winchester Model 94 with Walnut stock. $189.99!
Plus, Marlin 22's (Model 25) for $89.88, and a Model 60 for $78.77.
I have both of these Marlin's and the Model 25 shoots the better of the two. I was knocking empty 9mm brass off a fence post last time my son and I had it out.

I almost don't want to mention the price for 250 rounds of Remington 22LR ammo in a paper milk pint container. ($5.97)

I think the 30TK is a cool version of the Marlin 336. A 35 Rem or 375 Win version would have been neat, too, but I don't believe any were made. My Glenfield 30 .35 Rem would be the closest to it but has a 20" barrel. However 20" is short enough for me.

I ran across one in a gun store while traveling on business nearly 2 years ago. Didn't know what it was at the time, but I new I liked it, a lot! It was priced at $329 if I remember correctly, and I almost put it back because I had just bought an 1895 not 30 minutes prior. When the fellow said " Give me $269 and it's yours", I snatched it! Hated to even lay it down to fill out the paperwork. They are unique rifles for sure, and mine seems to like 150's over 170's. And it's never going to be for sale, as long as I am still breathing.
