I just picked up a JM marked Marlin 1894 stainless 44 mags. Was this a limited ed gun? I thought the stainless JM 1894's were a short run. Thanks

Great rifle. Congrats.
I still shoot my 2008 SS,but not as much as in the past. They're now a collector's item, never to be made again. My serial number is on the left side of the receiver,so it was made after the Freedom Group buyout. Earlier ones had tang serial numbers. Mine has a huge barrel,.4312+,so I feed her fat cast bullets and Unique. All jacketeds,.429-.4295-.430 shoot like gangbusters with Alliant 2400 or Accurate #9 powders. An exceptionally smooth and accurate Marlin. When I first bought it,the top and bottom tangs needed a couple dabs of Acraglas Gel,out of the box the buttstock was a little loose. Killed a couple deer,a half dozen turkeys,a fox,and three Texas hogs with old Stainless.
Best of luck. Post pics and range results.

easy now cowboy, didn't mean anything bad. Just though that it was an overkill. In mind i picture a big bang and feather fly all around with turkey ground meat coming down on you.

LOL! That's what I was thinking! Poof! I shot a hen years ago in another state, (where rifle was also legal) using a .270 Win. Went to retrieve it and it was an empty turkey skin with feathers, and two legs. But seeing a low charge and LRN, it now makes sense. Love to see some picture of these stainless beauties!

1895Gunner. Dang if I can buy a 1894ss for $600. Prices are going up daily on the Stainless Steel JM Marlin. Rare ones like 1894ssLTD are going for over $4000, the 41mag is the Holy grail only 251 ever build and the only stainless steel 41mag. Now goes (if you can find one) for over $5000 without the box. The 357mag alway goes for more than the 44 mag for some reason. I guest because it's cheaper to shoot. IMO the 44 mag SS goes for $1800, year ago it was a $900 rifle. Prices are going up on all factory short barrel rifles. I have a 1894 in 44mag just like a 1894p, but without the porting. Build for one year only, must be a very low number out there because a never seen another up for sale or at any show. I was offer $2500 for it 6 month ago and I turn it down.

What they are worth, and what people pay are very different.

After I bought my 1894SS and everyone got a chance to shoot it,two guys I know went downtown and bought one. Theirs were JM stamped with 91xxxxxx serial numbers. Mine was a 2008,and I bought it from a guy who only put a box of 20 rounds through it. The recoil put him off,he didn't realize full power loads were so tough,so he sold it to me for what he had in it,about $690.
If you look on Gunbroker they sell for $900-$1600. They ran from 2002 to 2009,so if 2000 per year were manufactured, there might be 16,000 or 18,000 in existence. A few were assembled in Ilion from North Haven parts after the move. I saw one with an REP proof and a 91 serial number.
