I'm considering buying a JC Higgins model 45 in 35 Rem. This is a Marlin 336 made for JC Higgins company. The rifle is in excellent condition with really nice wood grain. What does everyone think of the value of the store version Marlins?

The Sears/ JC Higgins rifles contracted by Marlin are same quality as JM Marlins of the day. For a good while these rifles were “sleepers” and could be bought cheaper than Marlin or Glenfield marked guns. Today people are starting to wise up and prices are going up. Condition, condition but $300 and up isn’t bad.
For comparison, I just came across a great shape Revelation 200M, a Marlin 336 30-30 made for Western Auto supply. Tasco scope and mount. 1970 production. For $375.
I have one, bought it several years ago, mighty fine rifle. Don't remember what I gave for it.
Bought a Westernfield 30-30 two yrs. ago for $200, ya I know I stole that one.
Still get nervous when I see a cop in the rear view.
With today's prices I wouldn't know what they will fetch.
The 35's usually bring a little more than the 30-30's.
Right now the regular Marlin 30-30's are getting expensive though.
