This rifle is a joy in every respect. I shot it in a match yesterday and missed eight times after having not shot it in over a year. It was originally a 30-30, but now is rebored to 38-55.

Maybe you missed eight times because you were shooting inverted? Holy reversal of vision metamorphopsia, Batman! Nice 1893! ;)

So y'all don't have to google it---
Reversal of vision metamorphopsia (RVM) is a transient form of metamorphopsia described as an upside-down, 180° alteration of the visual field in the coronal plane.

I have 5 - 1893's in 38-55. All are shooters with really good bores, one is pristine. 260gr gas checked bullets and Leverevolution powder works great. Doesn't get much better than shooting 120yr old rifles that have so much craftmanship.

EDIT, CORRECTION: The "L" marked loads are actually a "7". as in RE7 not Leverevolution. My bad...

What velocity MOOSE EARS?
I’ve never thought to try LE with cast.
I’ve used with the gummies but not cast.

Well now, your photo clearly shows the Australian version of that rifle.

Wow !!!! That 1893 with the target sights ought to shoot like it has eyes! 38-55 wcf is a great cartridge! I shoot alot of sized and lubed 240 gr cast over IMR 4759. 4759 is my propellant of choice plus I must have 40 pounds of it still. Have discovered powder coating. So now instead of limiting my velocity to 1500 fps, the powder coating allows me to drive my cast lead bullets to 1800 fps without the fear of barrel leading.
