Well if there are any Eastern MO that need an extra push for the event, let me know. My wife doesn't like me traveling cross country alone. The operative word is alone. I cannot bankroll all the travel expenses, but I could kick in a solid amount (some portion of airfare, motel, etc.) if any our of Eastern MO's would travel with me. Send me a PM or post it here if you have any interest.

Thanks. :tee:

Funny how life works and things happen. I am sitting here in my hospital bed again getting my GB taken out.
And I get a phone call from a crazy lady telling me I missed her car payment and that I am ruining her credit! This while I am laying down in bed sliced down the middle of my chest! Now before you think I am married to a psycho, she really is a great gal for these past 35 years. Her parents went thru the depression and she can get nutty about money at times under stress (me in hospital). But so did my parents and I ain't like that.

The upshot of all this is she just gave me the hammer to be one step closer to Tonasket! I am closing one of my accounts (I was thinking of doing it anyway) & making some advanced car payments and building a travel fund. As long as I am healthy beforehand and the dates are without conflict, I am planning to go. If something happens to me I'll check into the local hospital and be none the worse for it. I am turning 60 in July and I am gonna have some fun somewhere, whether it be Montana or Wyoming, maybe both! :driver:

Actually reminds me of WC field's line about a woman driving himself to drink. And how he was forever grateful!

Life is short unless you are miserable. Reward yourself with the trip, you'll be glad you did. While I haven't been to the "H", I've been to the range there. The "H" would be the ultimate trip, but your welcome here.

Hope you get on your feet soon. Steve

Get well soon drjjpdc. Life's too short not to enjoy it. Of course, at the moment it might be a little tedious.

You're on the right track. A good friend decided last summer he was going to quit deer hunting and spend that time and money on shooting guns he has always wanted to have. So far it is working out very well. He acquired an 1885 Browning in 40-65 and a Pedersoli Sharps in 40-82. He hasn't quit smiling since. He is pi$$ing me off but that must be adding to his enjoyment!

It's all in the priorities. Good luck and God's speed to you.

Your friend may have the right idea. Let's see, deer hunt. 1 shot. Target/play shoot, many shots. Of course there's the Dinger Grin, you can't discount that. Steve

I think it's a congrats on getting your GB out! I had mine out three years ago and it had turned all hard and gangrene. Not a pretty picture. One of my Christian brothers just died in January from a GB surgery too late. It had ruptured and was all gangrene. Get yourself recuperated. It will likely take a LONG time. Doc told me three to four months, but it was closer to a year before I felt like anything. Hope to see you at Tonasket! We are making it the center of a long visiting trip to all our Northwestern family and friends.

Hey Jeff! You and Don done cast up some beautiful bullets! You guys are having too much fun to be in Missouri! LOL!

Thanks Jeff. Now that the weather is getting better we might get to shoot some of 'em too!

It will probably be a long time, if ever, that I get to the U-Pick. That's a long way and hard to justify with a rifle club that has 600 yard targets. But, the company would probably make the trip justified. For the time being I'll have to be satisfied with hanging out with my ******* comedian friends who shoot BPCR at the club.

The H-4 is something that you certainly need to experience. If we can help in any way just say the word. Airline treminals, hotels, best highways, how to get past Cleat, etc.

Dinger grin on John's face. Now that would be a Kodak moment right there. Worth the price of admission to be sure and for certain! Steve

drjjpdc I sure hope you're on the mend real soon. We'd love to get ya out to the Happenz. Despite all the rumors we are a friendly bunch and I can say by experience that even a night or three on the shop floor at the U-Pick is some high livin.

drjjpdc, Hope the see you there and hope your recovery goes smoother than you expect.

My summer is already shaping up to be problematic but I keep thinking I have to retrieve the lawn chair I drove off and forgot last summer:)

Seriously, even if I didn't bring a rifle I think just being an observer at the Happenz would be worth it. Still working my accounts and my calender.

GB surgery ain't that bad anymore unless you let it go to long. Gee, I've had worse between my butt cheeks. That being said, you have plent of time to get healed up, reload and drive yer butt out to the U-Pick Ranch for the shootin time of yer life! See ya there!!!

Get well soon, Brother!

HD, my butt will be more than ready.obviously i ain't driving 3000 miles but some kind of rental is definitely in order.
Thank you all for your kind words. Wind has been so nice and helpful as an enabler to me that i feel bad not being able to make past trips. Keeping my fingers crossed for good health and not doing anything dumb. i may not be able to hunt for a while, but target/dinger shooting is something else. hope to get home tomorrow!

John
