You turned the screw out?

Is it the right hammer extension? I bought one by mistake for a '83 and didn't notice until I got it home. My gun is a '76 model , so i have to take it back.

 

The hammer spur on my 39a required a little careful fitting with a safe sided file. I think it's normal to have to fit some.

 

Mine for my 44-40 fit fine when I tried it just to see if it fit. My 1894C, someone got it so tight that I can't get it loose, so it just stays on there.

 

When my 1894 was scoped I installed the hammer spur extension. It fit yet I had to retighten it all the time and it drove me nuts.

 

Just put some Loctite on the screw before tightening it..........problem solved.

 

Are you sure there isn't a screw and a jam screw?

the spur is too small because it will slide onto the hammer. or should this just slide on?

I'm assuming it won't slide on??, the width difference is quite obvious, pre CBS hammers are 5/16" wide, the CBS hammers are 23/64" wide, the spurs slide right on.
