gun metal gray finish???

I was on totally different forum(Shilo Sharps or something) and saw some photos of a Marlin 1895CB that a
fella that goes by the name of HH did a number on.Man what a great looking rifle!!! What got me all worked up is the gun metal gray or antique finish he applied.I tried getting in touch with him but couldn't.Does anyone know the process or maybe steer me toward someone who might?

I believe the finish that you are speaking of is called "french grey". I cant tell you much about it, other than it looks pretty nice. If I am not mistaken I believe Turnbull does theese finishes.

Come to think of it,I think Uberti offered it on some of their Colt and Winchester clones.

Somebody also mentioned cow urine may have been used in the process.

Is the color in any way similar to the "Target grey" that ruger offers
on some of their stainless steel rifles?

No not really,it actually looks like a very old gun that the bluing has faded away to a gray patina.
