Three Oklahoma teenagers were killed last week when they broke into a house and were met by a homeowner with an AR-15. Now the grandfather of one of the teenagers is speaking out about his grandson's death. According to KTUL-TV, Leroy Schumacher, grandfather of 17-year-old Jacob Redfearn, believes the death of Redfearn was unjustified because the homeowner's AR-15 gave him an unfair advantage over the three burglars.
:bawling:
Speaking to KTUL, Schumacher acknowledged that breaking into a house was "stupid," but death was not the appropriate consequence. "What these three boys did was stupid," Schumacher said. "They knew they could be punished for it but they did not deserve to die." "Brass knuckles against an AR-15? C'mon. Who was afraid for their life?" Schumacher said. The homeowner who pulled the trigger has not been charged with any crimes because police say he acted in self-defense. ...

God bless the homeowner! He needs to live with the fact that he defended his home and life by taking the lives of people who did not care about anybody else.
As for the cretinous young men, you made a decision that was obviously the wrong one and no one is to blame but yourselves, for the consequences.

In the words of Bill Jordan "There are no second place winners in a gun fight". If you are a thief, murderer, gang thug, drug thug, car jacker, etc you roll the dice when you perpetrate a crime against a "Lawabiding Citizen" period. No sympathy from me.

Here's a lesson, if you do dumb stuff you win dumb prizes. some less harsh then others, but at the end of the article he says hopefully some kids learn from this. might be cold but I don't have much sympathy for a thief. I'm glad to hear the homeowner had a at-15 and knew how to use it. California this could have been a much different outcome, and the homeowner hurt/killed.

'Cheating' is for games, not real life felonious threats. I feel for the Grandfather, grieving folks often make excuses for the fatal bad choices of their loved ones. As a cop and Sheriff's Agent I grieved with many parents who's children made stupid choices. Reality and acceptance will set in given time - unless they are the revengeful type that may well put them in their grieved one's shoes.

Neither side will know if they are poorly equipped for the task at hand until the fight is over. Someone is going to win. The dumber you are the more likely it won't be you.

Whether the boys had knives, guns, or brass knuckles, the fact is they broke into a house. One can only speculate as to what they could, or may have done to the occupants of that house, had the homeowner not been armed. The best scenario is they would flee from the homeowner. Worst case is they would kill or seriously injure the homeowner. Yeah, they knew they could be punished for it, LOL, with probation. Someone should have conveyed to Mr Schumacher that, DENIAL is not a river in Egypt. Your grandson was out to commit a crime. A crime is a crime. Its not fair to break into someone's home. And it's not unfair to defend your life and home with whatever means you have at your disposal. Not trying to seem like I'm insensitive, but people shouldn't try to make the criminal the victim.

That's one of the problems (of the unfathomable many) with this society of stupid that we live in. These days someone is always trying to make the criminals into the victims. So I suppose this idiot grandfather would've thought it was a fair fight if these punks had killed the homeowner? But then it would probably still be the homeowner's fault for having the audacity to work for what he had. What if this moron had to defend HIMSELF against four thugs in a home invasion? What if he used something to defend himself? Something like, oh I dunno, a gun? Would he think it was fair then? Here's an idea: If his trash grandson had elected to leave people alone and not perpetrate a home invasion he'd still be alive.
THE STUPID IS STRONG WITH THIS ONE!

"brass knuckles" considered to be an illegal and deadly weapon (unless it stays on one's OWN property) in my state.

Like I used to tell people when I was taking them to jail, play stupid games, win stupid prizes. No sympathy for criminals at all. My grandpa loved all guns, including AR15’s. And would approved of using them! Just see the look on his face. He didn’t play!

Somebody breaks into your home and you do not have the time or distance to determine if or how they are armed. Self defense inside the home makes for a pretty easy defense case in court. The scum got what they deserved.

Lucky the homeowner chose to use an AR-15. Had he used a 12 gauge pump shotgun, there would likely be 4 dead instead of three.

It used to be that the theory was, if you were stupid enough to break into a house that was occupied, there was no telling what you were capable of, and you deserved everything you got. Guess times change. He did save the taxpayers money on three of them--no trials, no attorney fees, no prison expenses. AND no chance for them to get out and become repeat offenders.

Police said all of the unidentified suspects were wearing black clothes, masks and gloves. One was armed with a knife and another with brass knuckles. Two of the three had both meth and amphetamines in their systems.
"Brass knuckles against an AR-15, come on, who was afraid for their life," said [grandfather] Schumacher.
For anyone who doesn't yet know, brass knuckles can -- and will -- utterly destroy facial bone, nose, eye orbit and jaw structure. Destroy it, never to be rebuilt. They can and were designed to seriously injure, maim, and kill while offering protection to the attacker -- internal injuries, torn open skin, and immediate incapacitation in seconds.

And knives are a gut-wrenchingly fast way to colostomy bags for life -- if you live.

That said, it appears 2 of the 3 were in fact shot several times in the back. Awfully hard to stop mayhem once it explodes -- especially if/when multiple attackers are involved. I'm sure the DA had to have walked that scenario through multiple times before deciding it was a good shooting.
