I'd like to find out the manufacturing date of a 25MN rifle. I have a 783 22WMR Ser. No. 2374----, made in 1977 right (2000 less 23 = 1977)? Now I also have the 25MN with Ser.No.9766----. My question is: the manufacturing date for this rifle? Thank you for the assistance.

Thank you for the replies, even though there's a difference in dates. In searching another rimfire forum I think the answer is for rifles made after 2000 the first two digits of the serial number are subtracted from 2100 to fine the date, making my rifle a 2003 manufacture (last year made). Please correct this information if incorrect. Thanks.

I don't have a bolt action 22 mag right now.I have had some very fine bolt action Marlins in the past.If Marlin (Remington?) has improved the trigger, they have kicked it up a notch and though I don't plan to buy any more guns,I am certainly pleased they are available to the up and coming hunter/shooter.

blaze,

You're right, I wasn't aware to use 2100 and subtract first 2 digits. Sorry for wrong info.
Didn't think the 25 ran that long and makes my 925M later than I thought.

Gots me to thinkin last night if blaze's rifle is 97***** made in 2003 and I have a rifle with ser # 98***** means mine was made in 2002 ? So the higher the serial number, the earlier it was made ? ? This must be part of the new math the schools are teaching ?

Not sure which logic works on the 25MN. You are right on the 783's made after 1972. For the ones made in 1971 and '72, the first two digits of the serial# were the year of manufacture. The 25MN was made from about 1988 to 2003 or so from memory so I'm thinking that in your case you may have a '97 model but I haven't been able to verify that yet.
