Anybody had their 1895s coated or hard chromed?

I've been wondering how Cerakote, Gun Kote and the like stack up against the so-called hard chrome plating in terms of durability, rust resistance, etc. I know that the folks at Ranger Point Precision believe in their Gun Kote finishes but I've never seen or heard a comparison with hard chrome plating.

Anyone with experience or thoughts, please chime in.

I been thinking of sending out my 444P to have a nickel finish put on by E Auther Brown company. They did my Encore 50 cal muzzleloader barrel about 12 years back and the finish is better than stainless.

I had my 1895SS Cerakoted in Graphite Black. Looks great and is extremely durable. The attachment is before Cerakote.

Before you send them the rifle, read up on the reviews at KG Guncoat's web site. Their finish was tailored to a coating especially for tools and guns of all types used by the Seal Teams. My friend that does it researched several brands of coatings for over a year before he went with the KG Guncoat. With what he shared with me, I have had him do a few pieces for me.

Good luck in your choice.
