Recently bought an 883ss in 22 magnum, and the barrel is not JM stamped. I bought it from the original owner, and it has never been back to the factory to be re barreled or anything. The barrel stamping is North Haven. Any reason why this would not have the "JM" proof mark? Thanks Fellas.

Sounds like your rifle was caught in the Remington transition period and didn't get the Marlin proof fire mark, even with the Marlin barrel address.

I'm thinking that mine is about the same age as yours. I did a serial # search once and if I remember right, that's about the same time...

"The guy I bought it from bought it about 2001-2003"
Ah, the rest of the story. That does muddy the water a tad.

Maybe your gun was the last one made on Friday of a holiday weekend.
