I'd never heard of the 350 Remington Magnum until tonight, when I saw a bunch for sale from a fella. Are these apples to oranges for my Marlin 336 chambered in .35 Remington?

The 350 Rem Mag was introduced by Remington in the late 60's in the model 660 rifles with vent ribs on the barrels. The 350 Rem Mag and the 6.5 Rem Mag are bsed on the same short action case with each case having the magnum "belt" as the 7mag, 300 win mag etc. Remington has offered the 350 mag in their 700 series rifles with their last issue of the 350 Rem Mag in the limited run 700 classic series.

Actually, Remington's last "issue" for the fine .350RM was in their Model 673, a derivative of their fine Model Seven, which was also chambered in the .350. Production of the 673 began in '03 and it was discontinued sometime around '07 or so. The 673 continues the legacy of the M600 .350 and also has a vent rib on the barrel, but has a 22" barrel length. The 673 was also produced in 6.5RM as well (plus .308 and .300SAUM)

The Ruger M77 was also recently (last 5 yrs or so) chambered in the .350 and some NIB examples can still be found floating around. Although not as popular as the .35 Whelen, the .350 will mirror anything the Whelen can do with bullets up to 225gr or so and also do it in a S/A rifle. This means somewhere around a 600- 700 FPS higher velocity than the .35 Rem with 200gr bullets with some loads.

This is what the M673 looks like. Top is a .350RM and bottom a 6.5RM version.

on the left is a 200 gr 35 rem and on the right is a 180gr 350 rem mag.
,in the pic its hard to see the big difference the 350 is belted and is very " fat" .The 350 is "noted" for heavy recoil, but I find in my 660 rem.it's no worse than my 30.06. the most noticeable thing is the muzzle flash with the 20 in. barrel,it uses almost 2x of the same powder as the 35 rem for the same bullet weight, most if not all of the 358 dia bullets are built for the lower vel.of the 35 rem,or are so tough for bigger game that they poke holes,{ in deer }so load one and collect your deer with a lawn rake or go the other way and go find um. I load mine down to approx.358 win.velocity with a 180 and it works very well.

So my Step father just gave me his Remington Model 600. It's a very nice gun but he has no ammo. I've been looking online for .350 magnum and it appears it's not made anymore unless I pay $100 for a box of 20. Looking at your information it looks like I can shoot 35 Rem in it? Is that correct? I would like to shoot the thing but need ammo. I'm ready to sell it if I cannot get ammo for it.

The 35 Rem is not even close! The 350 Rem was way ahead of it's time the first short mag too say and the rifle was a wizzy lam stock thing with a short barrel known as the model 600 now if they came out with this combo in the 1990's it would not even raise a stir or Yet it got the press attention it would kick your block off they said ya right. Now we except .300 short mags that wiegh less?

Now a 350 Rem Mag in a BBR would be cool. and better than the .338 Marlin too.

I have the big Brother to the 350 Rem mag a .358 Norma Mag hmmm a long action BBR in that would be cool.:hmmmm:

I love 35 calibers. I own a 336ER in .356 Win and a Remington 673 in 350 Remington Mag. The .350 Remington Mag as taken Canadian Moose, Vancouver Island Black Bear, African Gemsbock, Waterbuck, and Hartman's Zebra. The .356 Win has taken two Cow Elk and two Pigs. I will never sell either gun.

You can not shoot 35 Rem in a 350 Rem Mag---two entirely different calibers.

.350 Rem Mag is a serious big game cartridge. Expect to throw out a 200 grain bullet at over 2800 fps. That is a whole different world than the beloved 35 Remington.

I might have one of the guns mentioned. Remington 660, 20" barrel, dog-leg bolt.
It can be loaded down to just above 35 Rem ballistics, or 358 Win ballistics. But they cannot be loaded up to 350 Remington level.
The 350 Rem mag is very similar to the 35 Whelen but in a short action

Another zombie thread, this one is over seven years old. The OP was banned from the site years ago. If one actually reads the first few posts it’s clear that the two cartridges are ‘way different anyway.

right
and SFC Gagnon did a Google search, found the thread and joined Marlinowners.

WELCOME SFC Gagnon!
Maybe you can trade that bolt action cannon for a 444 Marlin and do some shooting.

OK, it is an old thread. But very little new is being posted here.
Seems that even the boards are slow right now.
