I need help. Those of us that have .35 Remington rifles, and want to reload for it, all know that we have a brass issue. Hornady's brass is too short, except for their LeverRevolution bullets, Jamison's brass is extinct and we are left with no options for new brass. I have called Starline and they said they will research this for me and put it on the list of brass to consider making. I need everyone that has a dog in this fight to please call Starline at 800-280-6660 and tell them simply that you are asking them to make this brass for us. The more calls they get the better our chances.

I just seen 10 boxes of Winchester Super X ammo in 35 Rem at Cabela's about a half hour ago. Honestly, I would rather see some Federal ammo and just reload that brass. It would be nice if Starline made brass for 35 Rem, but that caliber is pretty low on the totem poll for me despite currently owning four rifles in 35 Rem. I need Starline to make 25-20 ASAP!

The Hornady 35 Rem brass is full length, so no problems there. Might be the best way to build up your stock of brass, the Hornady ammo shoots great in all 5 of my Marlins in 35 and my 21" T/C Carbine also in 35 rem. DP

I think only the 444 Marlin and 45-70 brass is shorter. I know all of my 35 Rem brass is the same.

Hornady 35 rem brass is full length.
You also want to mine for brass when you go to the range.
I get wierd looks and get asked what i am doing from time to time.
But i have built a good stash of brass for my use and also to give to friends.
It is fun also like christmas rolled into easter in dirty five gallon buckets.
But when you find uncommon high priced brass that you can give to family who could load it.
I took my 444 out with a cousin we shot less than a box and retrieved 30 casings.

I buy a few boxes of 35 Rem ammo from time to time just for the brass---but I don't buy any new Remington ammo. Picked up a Win Super-X 35 Rem box yesterday from Cabelas. First time I had seen that ammo in quite a few years.

Did Remington stop making 35 remington brass, and I missed it? I now have plenty thanks to a recent purchase from slips73 here on the forum. 300 of them are "new in the bag" Remington brass.

I am not sure about Rem brass---but Big R has quit making a lot of the Corelokt bullet offerings packaged for the reloading crowd.

I have been using forum member Grumpas modified 308/35 Rem brass for a couple of years now in my SG 35 and it works very.....so well, that I will never buy OEM 35 Rem brass again...even if by some remote chance it becomes available.

Hornady brass is good stuff. I bought up enough mixed brass a years ago to last the rest of my life. Buy used brass when you can if the price is right. Federal, Winchester, Remington and Hornady... all good to go. All excellent brass for reloading the ole 35 rem.

I have been using Hornady brass for all my reloading for my two 336ca 35 Remington's and after reloading the first 100 pieces of brass 3x each now I have had ZERO issues of any kind. I made a point to measure and trim them measure again every single piece and all of it was to SAMMI specs. Only thing I noticed while informing them was how snug Hornady's primer ppockets are. As far as I can tell Hornady is the ONLY new 35 Remington brass available to reload with and I have been diligently checking EVERYWHERE every week for months and months and are on EVERYBODY'S email notification list.

I bought 100 peices of Hornady brass from midway. As mentioned earlier Grumpa makes brass from 308 brass and is thicker than factory brass. Next time I need 35 brass i will buy some from him. Linky

If you would have actually spent the time to read the thread I linked to about the brass made from 308 brass you would have seen it has been turned down and machined to 35 Remington diminsions.

No problem jgriffin. He has a lot of very positive feedback on the castboolits forum for the quality of his brass and how well it has worked. He does caution that because the walls are thicker than factory brass you need to work up the loads. As hard as 35 Rem brass has been to find in the past some extra heavy brass with a longer life span is welcome news.

Now if we could just talk Starline int making some 30-30 brass with thicker walls that would be great. My 30-30 brass seems to be good with full power loads for 3-4 firings. But heavier brass walls may not help since almost all the splits I get are in the neck area and you really can't make that any thicker.

I once formed a 35R. case by lubricating a 308W. case then first sizes it with a Lee .457" bullet sizing die then a 35R. full sizing die. came out nice. If need to I could put the case in a drill gun and hold a fine file to the rim. But I have a habit I order a bag or two every time I buy online, just throw it with the shipping charges. Right now I have a pretty good stock I think for live time. PS I have the pictures, one is a 35R. case and the other two are the reformed 308W. to 35R. case. The one by its self is a reformed 308W. to 35R case.

We are always interested in links. So post it. If you will google backcreekdiary.htm you will find the site for Ed Harris. Go down half a page on the left side and read the Winchester 94 35/30-30 And it will give info on that round. I would post a link but I am on my new iPad and have no idea how I can do that.

And if you don’t reload start as soon as you can. You have no idea what you are missing. Except ammo shortages, worries about where you will find ammo and how to feed your gun. RCBS was born out of the need to have ammo during WW2. Do a little research. It is very interesting.

Go to the Wildcat and Modified Firearms Forum. Directly below is a sub forum entitled "New Home SG 444 and SG 35". In that sub forum I have a sticky entitled "Making a case for "the" case"........It explains my experience with OEM and modified 35 Rem cases, and explains the benefits of forum member Grumpas 308-35 Rem cases.
