Today was our last day of regular deer season, for most of Virginia. I held off on a few smaller bucks last night. I just had a good feeling that if I could get back in there in the morning, I'd have a chance at a bigger one. This guy came in with two other smaller bucks at about 7:30. 60yd shot with my '79 35rem. 180gr Hotcors over a max load of LVR. Ran about 70. One of my best bucks ever. 16.75" inside spread. Amazing season for some of my Marlins. Shot my first deer with both my 1894 44mag and 357mag (2 doe) and second wall hanger for the 35.

Great buck, caliber, load and shooting! Where did you hit him? I've had only two run on me with my. 35 over the years. One in Nov. of this year.
Excellent job there. It is so satisfying to take an animal with your own reloads! And on the last day of the season. A grand slam there! Enjoy that venison!

Congratulations on your JM buck with a 35 Rem! "One of" my favorite calibers in my Marlins. My first Marlin was a 1967 in 35 Rem & it's not going anywhere.
Nice buck. Looks like it was well fed from being around farm properties. The deer in the Blue Ridge Mtns. generally all had spindly racks due to poor quality food. I hunt there for about 18 years, never saw a deer as nice as yours.
